The aim of this study is to investigate cyber security behaviours and information security awareness of university students. In this study, 88 students participated in the Faculty of Education and Engineering at a private university in Turkey. Convergent parallel design is used in this study. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance and correlation analysis were used to analyze the quantitative data. Thematic analysis was used to examine students' views. As a result of this study, it is seen that the awareness of university students about providing personal cyber security and information security, which is one of the most important issues of the internet age, is generally high. However, the results show that there are students with little or no awareness. This issue varies according to the students' departments or the number of their social media accounts. In order to increase the awareness of the students, it is necessary to place the related courses in the curriculum, to inform the students about these issues from a young age and to be aware of the importance of providing cyber security. Increasing the awareness of the students who meet at a very early age with social media is also important for both individual and community development.
