Infections with Helicobacter pylori are responsible for 90 % of all chronic gastritides; beyond that they seem to be the most important cause of stomach cancer. The study examined the effect of the microbiological therapy on 17 patients with Helicobacter infection. Even if the drop number was very low, the study supplies nevertheless significant results with the improvement of the complaints by this therapy. Clinical studies more largely put on would be desirable.
Abstract 30 % of the population of the Western countries suffer from unspecific abdominal pain. A fundamental cause for this phenomenon is a long-lasting malnutrition, which disturbs the symbiotic balance in the intestine. By an excessive consumption of fats and protein the pH value of the content of the intestine is shifted. Lactic bacteria are reduced, putrefactive germs spread and digestive enzymes work suboptimally. Maldigestion and malabsorption phenomena occur and metabolic products of the germs put a strain on the liver. The permeability of the intestinal mucosa increases, which can cause pseudoallergic reactions. By changing the nutrition to a low-protein and low-fat diet as well as a diet rich in fibers, this vicious circle is broken. Water-soluble fibers as e.g. inulin serve as a nutrition for the bifidobacterium bifidum.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
