Nanoparticles serve to reduce toxicity, enhance bioactivity and improve targeting. Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) are explored because of it's unique characteristics and various known therapeutic benefits such as antioxidants activities and reducing risk of cancer. In this study, arrow root which is a starch obtained from tapioca or cassava is mediated with SeNPs and studied for it's anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic effect. The plant extract of arrow root was prepared and mixed with the sodium selenite solution. The solution is kept in a magnetic stirrer while being observed for any colour change. The synthesis of nanoparticles is observed using UV-vis spectrophotometry. Then the anti-inflammatory activity is observed using albumin denaturation assay and cytotoxic analysis conducted on brine shrimp nauplii. The results showed that there was a lower toxicity rate of SeNPs and significant anti-inflammatory activity which concludes that these nanoparticles can be used in various drug designing aspects in future.
The nanoparticles are known to reduce toxicity, enhance bioactivity and improve targeting cells. The metal and metal oxide nanoparticles such as gold, silver, zinc oxide, zirconium oxide, copper oxide, copper sulfide, selenium, hydroxyl apatite, and titanium oxide were used in several biomedical applications especially diagnosis of cancer, etc. The selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) are explored due toits unique characteristics and various known therapeutic benefits such as anti bacterial, anti fungal and anti cancer activities. The selenium nanoparticles actively involved in the free radical scavenging activity and anti inflammatory activity. The antioxidant activities and reducing risk of cancer. In this present study, Cynodondactylon or Bermuda grass mediated synthesis of selenium nanoparticles and it was characterized using UV- vis spectrophotometer. And its antioxidant effect was analysed using DPPH assay. The plant extract of Cynodondactylon was prepared using distilled water and mixed with the sodium selenite solution. The solution was kept in a magnetic stirrer at 100 RPM for constant stirring while being observed for any colour change. The results showed that there was a significant antioxidant activity and peak confirm the selenium nanoparticles formation. Finally we conclude that the selenium nanoparticles can be used in various drug designing aspects in future.
Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is one of the most common benign lesions of the salivary glands, with a majority of them occurring in the parotid gland. PA has origin from the epithelial and mesenchymal elements and can arise from both major and minor salivary glands. Among minor salivary glands, the palate is the most commonly affected site, followed by lips, cheeks, gingiva, the floor of the mouth, and tongue. PA of the upper lip without intraoral mucosal involvement is a rare entity. In this article, we report a case of PA of the upper lip in a middle-aged female patient and its surgical management with a novel technique. During six months' postoperative review, the patient showed excellent wound healing with very minimal scar formation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
