A Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU), em seu mais recente projeto de governança global, vislumbra, na realização equilibrada de objetivos sociais, econômicos, ambientais e políticos, a chave para o desenvolvimento planetário em condições de sustentabilidade. O trabalho decente, pelo potencial emancipatório e afirmador da dignidade humana que apresenta, desempenha papel estratégico nesse processo, merecendo menção no oitavo Objetivo de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS). Nesse sentido, o presente artigo verifica quais são os limites e as possibilidades do Estado-nação na efetivação do trabalho decente no âmbito da Agenda 2030 das Nações Unidas, o que se dá por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica, adotando o método dedutivo. Os resultados indicam que, embora o Estado-nação possa avançar na efetivação do trabalho decente mediante a adoção de políticas públicas amplas, fortalecimento de pequenas empresas, apoio às iniciativas de economia solidária, reformas legislativas e potencialização da fiscalização do trabalho, tal êxito condiciona-se à atuação convergente de outros atores, mormente os que representam interesses econômicos, como as corporações transnacionais.
Os sentidos atribuídos ao “desenvolvimento”, objeto do direito humano reconhecido na Declaração de 1986, sofreram significativas transformações nas últimas décadas. As mais recentes interpretações, incorporadas nos instrumentos de governança da Organização das Nações Unidas, vislumbram o fenômeno pela lente da sustentabilidade e do equilíbrio de diferentes dimensões. O presente artigo analisa a dimensão social do direito humano ao desenvolvimento sustentável, sob a ótica da sua efetivação. Dialogando, principalmente, com o trabalho de Kristen Magis e Craig Shinn, explora as noções de bem-estar humano, equidade, governo democrático e sociedade civil democrática, princípios conformadores da dimensão social do desenvolvimento sustentável, para, na sequência, apontar iniciativas, desde a realidade brasileira contemporânea, que corroboram para a sustentabilidade social. Para alcançar o objetivo traçado, emprega o método dedutivo, em pesquisa de caráter qualitativo, que se serve da técnica bibliográfica.

O artigo investiga como a Agenda 2030 das Nações Unidas afigura-se no marco da governança global para o desenvolvimento sustentável. Com o emprego do método dedutivo e por meio de pesquisa qualitativa, cuida, incialmente, da relação entre governança e desenvolvimento sustentável, enfatizando a incorporação da segunda temática no âmbito da ONU. Trata, também, das particularidades da Agenda 2030, explorando conceitos, inerentes ao tema governança, implicados no plano de ação pós-2015. Conclui que a Agenda 2030 constitui instrumento de governança por meio de metas que contempla fundamentos para um projeto de desenvolvimento articulador das dimensões ambiental, social, econômica e institucional, e passível de ser compartilhado em nível global.
O artigo analisa quais os limites e possibilidades à efetivação do consumo sustentável, pontuado como um dos objetivos da Agenda 2030 das Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU), na era “da leveza”, conceito elaborado pelo filósofo Gilles Lipovetsky para descrever a sociedade de consumo contemporânea. De forma específica, explora os aspectos centrais da construção da Agenda 2030 pela ONU; apresenta qual a inserção do consumo sustentável no mencionado documento; e caracteriza os paradoxos do consumo na denominada “sociedade da leveza”. Com o emprego do método dedutivo e utilizando as técnicas de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, o estudo, que é de cunho teórico e de caráter qualitativo, ensaia uma aproximação entre o paradigma de desenvolvimento endossado pelos países-membro da ONU e as teorizações sobre a cultura do consumo, destacadamente aquelas procedidas por Gilles Lipovetsky. A conclusão é no sentido de que, embora a promoção do consumo sustentável encontre limites na própria tessitura social contemporânea, marcada pelo consumismo, apego ao novo e desperdício, emergem tendências como o consumo ecológico, o comércio justo e o consumo compartilhado, que se apresentam como possibilidades para a efetivação do consumo sustentável.
