This study identifies commodities that Vietnam has comparative advantage based on RCA index, growth determinants and export trend of Vietnam into the ASEAN market via growth-component analysis and Spearman’s rank correlation test. Using data of UNComtrade, we find that Vietnam has 91 commodities with comparative advantage in 2000 – 2015. Increased export of Vietnam into ASEAN is thanks to a strong demand in the ASEAN market, suitable industry structure and especially comparative advantage which can be seen clearly in 2007 – 2015. Vietnam has the most favorable conditions in trading relations with Singapore, Brunei, and Malaysia and less favorable conditions with the remaining ASEAN countries, including Indonesia and Cambodia that are direct competitors of Vietnam. From the results, the paper provides policy suggestions to expand the Vietnam’s comparative advantage in trading with ASEAN.
After nearly 30 years of economic reforms, theories on competition in the development of the Vietnam economy have fundamental changes. Competition has been recognized and becomes a driving force for the development of the economy. However, monopoly, market domination of SOEs and inequality in business still exist in many sectors of the Vietnam economy. One of the important causes leading to this problem is to enhance the role of the state sector in the way of economic development. This study proposes to keep changing theoretical thinking about competition and the role of SOEs; to determine the areas of the state monopoly; and to abolish the monopoly of SOEs in order to perfect the institutions of socialist-oriented market economy in Vietnam.
The article presents the analysis of various circuits of the multistage switching systems and their main characteristics. The model of calculating the complexity of the new generation optical switching systems based on 4x4 switches has been developed. These switching systems have a new property, which no one multi-stage scheme possesses: the strict non-blocking capacity with parallel data transfer and arbitrary packet swapping. There has been compared the difficulty of the proposed systems, such as the switching difficulty of the base element and the diameter with well-known multi-stage schemes. The analysis showed that the optical switching systems of the new generation have an advantage - a fewer number of cascades.
