Background: Physical fitness is an important issue for every individual including students. Physical fitness is closely related to the condition of obesity and the level of physical activity. Some Poltekkes Kemenkes Tasikmalaya students have conditions of obesity and low physical activity. The purpose of this study is to get a description of physical fitness in obese students in the Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health Tasikmalaya. Method: This study used a descriptive non-experimental design. The total sample of subjects in this study were 100 regular students (75 female and 25 male) who had been screened for obesity with a body mass index (BMI) 24.9. After filling in general demographic and anthropometric data, the sample then underwent physical fitness measurements using the Balke technique. Data were analyzed using central tendency values, proportions / percentages for physical fitness level variables. Results: The results of this study showed that 100% of obese students in the Poltekkes of the Ministry of Health Tasikmalaya had a very low level of physical fitness. This condition requires the support and attention of relevant individuals and the Poltekkes Ministry of Health of the Ministry of Health Tasikmalaya to prevent more severe risks.
Plaque buildup on the tooth surface and a decrease in salivary pH can be a risk of dental caries. Children aged 10-11 years are an age that is prone to dental and oral health problems such as dental caries. The percentage of children who have caries at the age of 10-11 years is 82%. Red betel leaf is known to contain antibacterial compounds that can be used as natural ingredients in making mouthwash to inhibit plaque formation and increase salivary pH. The research objective: to determine the effect of red betel leaf decoction (Piper crocatum Ruiz Pav.) on oral hygiene and the degree of acidity of saliva in children aged 10-11 years. Research methods: using a quasi-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test designs. Sampling by purposive sampling as many as 20 people. The research measuring instrument used the PHP index and saliva pH. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The results: after gargling red betel leaf stew, the average oral hygiene status increased from 2.90 to 1.98 and the degree of saliva acidity increased from 6.65 to 7.7, the Wilcoxon test results obtained p-value = 0.000 (0.05). Conclusion: there is an effect of gargling red betel leaf decoction on oral hygiene status and the degree of acidity of saliva in children aged 10-11 years.
Plaque and pH saliva are factors that can cause dental caries. The prevalence of caries according to RISKESDAS (2018) reached 45.3% in Indonesia. WHO (2012) states that the prevalence of caries for school children at 60%-90%. They are fond of consuming cariogenic foods that can increase the risk of caries. The Royal Gala Apple contains antibacterial that can inhibit plaque formation and have a slight acid flavor that can stimulate saliva flow. Aim: To know the influence of chewing the Royal Gala Apples to plaque formation and pH saliva in grade VI students SDIT Assunnah Cirebon. Method: Quasi experiment with one group pretests posttest design. Samples of 33 students. The samples were instructed to chew the Royal Gala Apple 100 gr for 5 minutes. Plaque measured by PHP index and pH saliva is measured with universal indicator paper. Results: The normality test of Kolmogorov-Smirnov is obtained by the plaque and pH saliva results before and after chewing the royal Gala p-value of < 0.05 so, that distribution data is abnormal. Data analyzed using Wilcoxon test was obtained PHP plaque index and pH saliva before and after chewing Apple Royal Gala p-value: 0.000 (sig < 0.05) Conclusion: there is a chewing effect of the Royal Gala Apple Fruit against plaque formation and pH saliva in grade VI students SDIT Assunnah Cirebon.
Background: Healthy conditions can affect human behavior, one of which is by implementing clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) in maintaining dental and oral health. PHBS can be influenced by several factors, one of which is knowledge. According to several studies, if a person's knowledge is good, then PHBS will also be good, and will have a good impact on his life. In their growth and development, adolescents often experience health problems, especially in the gingiva. One of the problems that occur is supported by lifestyle, food and hormonal factors. Objective: This research was conducted to find out how the relationship between knowledge about dental and oral health and gingivitis in adolescents in West Ciberang Village Rt/10 Rw/03 Pandeglang Regency, Banten. Methods: This study uses a type of observation with a Spearman range design with a research sample of 30 teenagers. Data collection techniques were done by filling out a questionnaire and calculating the gingivitis index. Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman range test. Result: The results of the Spearmane Range Test showed an asymp sig value of 0.004 < 0.005, Conclusion: so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge about oral health and gingivitis in adolescents in Kampung Cilanggar Barat Rt/10 Rw/03 Pandeglang Regency, Banten.
