A meteorological drought refers to reduced rainfall conditions and is a great challenge to food security. Information of a meteorological drought in advance is important for taking actions in anticipation of its effects, but this can be difficult for areas with limited or sparse ground observation data available. In this study, a meteorological drought indicator was approached by applying the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) to satellite-based precipitation products from multiple sources. The SPI based meteorological drought analysis was then applied to Java Island, in particular to the largest rice-producing districts of Indonesia. A comparison with ground observation data showed that the satellite products accurately described meteorological drought events in Java both spatially and temporally. Meteorological droughts of the eight largest rice-producing districts in Java were modulated by the natural variations in El Niño and a positive-phase Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). The drought severity was found to be dependent on the intensity of El Niño and a positive-phase IOD that occurs simultaneously, while the duration seems to be modulated more by the positive-phase IOD. The results demonstrate the potential applicability of satellite-based precipitation monitoring to predicting meteorological drought conditions several months in advance and preparing for their effects.
Along with the increase in large and medium-scale disasters in the world, including in Indonesia, in the last decade, many theories and practices have developed in terms of measuring and improving disaster resilience. This study discusses the conceptual model of community-level disaster resilience and disaster risk reduction. Using a basic conceptual model for spatial protection to geological hazard, research examines the role of community resilience in reducing risk by using social dimensions. To explore the conceptual model of spatial resilience at the community scale, case studies conducted in two disaster events, are (1) communities affected by landslides in Cisolok, Sukabumi District on 31 December, 2018 and (2) Sunda Strait tsunami in Pandeglang tourism area on 22 December, 2018. Research suggests that the importance of social capital in terms of forming community resilience is related to disaster risk reduction. Social network, social experience, social knowledge and belief systems, contribute to increasing resilience and disaster risk reduction. The results of this study are the importance of building social capital and spatial resilience of communities in reducing disaster risk.
Indonesia has been struggling to response the COVID-19 since the first reported COVID-19 cases in Indonesia on 2 March 2020. It is about three months after intensively scary news of pandemic occurrence among neighbour countries. All efforts had been conducted to prevent and control the spread of disease, included how to implement effectively the message of using mask, social distancing, stay at home, frequently washing hands (health protocol for COVID-19) by local wisdom, in regards that Indonesia has more than 30 races and ethnicities and spread out in more than 3000 inhabited islands. People's behaviour, based on its local wisdom, are dominantly influence the people's response to the spread of COVID-19. In some provinces, the people's behaviour influences the spread of COVID-19 effectively. However, in some other provinces, it may not influence the increasing incidence of the disease. Thus, the significantly decreasing of the COVID-19 incidence is still under expectation in the near future. Many efforts had been conducted by the Government of Indonesia, from central command in the beginning to delegate autonomy of command to province and city or district. Understanding the geo-ecology and characteristics of population dynamic are important to describe the mechanism of the spread of COVID-19 for more focus in control interventions.
<p class="JudulABSInd"><strong>ABSTRAK</strong></p><p class="abstrak">Pergerakan penduduk dari tempat asal ke tujuan sejalan dengan pergerakan kendaraan. Pergerakan penduduk dari Depok ke Jakarta berbeda di tiap daerah perbatasan, seperti di Kelurahan Kukusan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemetaan pergerakan lalu lintas kendaraan di Kelurahan Kukusan. Untuk menjawab tujuan penelitian digunakan analisis spasial-temporal dengan unit data segmen jalan dan data primer yaitu: lebar dan arah jalan, asal-tujuan, rute, kecepatan dan volume kendaraan. Hasil pemetaan pergerakan lalu lintas kendaraan di Kelurahan Kukusan menunjukkan bahwa model jaringan jalan dengan arah selatan, timur dan barat secara umum menuju ke utara untuk pagi hari dan sebaliknya untuk sore hari. Hasil analisis pola spasial menunjukkan pola pergerakan kendaraan di Kelurahan Kukusan memusat di Jalan K. H. M. Usman. Segmen utara lebih banyak dilalui oleh lalu lintas kendaraan dari Kelurahan Kukusan, segmen tengah lebih banyak lalu lintas kendaraan dari dalam dan luar Kelurahan Kukusan dan segmen selatan lebih banyak lalu lintas kendaraan yang datang ke Kelurahan Kukusan. Analisis Spasial-temporal menunjukkan bahwa segmen yang lebih banyak dilalui oleh lalu lintas kendaraan dengan pola pagi hari di Jalan K. H. M. Usman memiliki nilai volume kendaraan 1.409,05 smp/jam adalah segmen tengah. Segmen selatan yang memiliki nilai derajat kejenuhan 0,71 lebih tinggi dari segmen tengah. Pola sore hari yang memiliki volume kendaraan tertinggi adalah segmen selatan yaitu 1.251,8 smp/jam dengan nilai derajat kejenuhan 0,79. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa segmen jalan dengan jumlah <em>Point of Interest</em> (POI) terbanyak memiliki derajat kejenuhan yang lebih tinggi.</p><p><strong>Kata Kunci</strong>: jaringan jalan, lalu lintas, model spasial, pola spasial-temporal</p><p class="judulABS"><em><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></em></p><p class="Abstrakeng"><em>The movement of people from origin to destination was aligned with the movement of vehicular. Movements of people from Depok to Jakarta had different spatialy like Kukusan Village. The aim of study to determine the traffic patterns of vehicle movement on Kukusan Village. To answer this research objective used spatial-temporal analysis with unit segments and primary data were: wide and direction of the road, origin-destination, routes, speed and volume of vehicular. The map of the movement of vehicular traffic in Kukusan Village by respondents shows a model of the road network to the south, east and the west generaly headed north in the morning and vice versa for afternoon. The results of the spatial patterns indicate that movement of vehicles in Kukusan Village centered on K. H. M. Usman northern segment with more impassable by vehicle traffic from Kukusan Village, the middle segment more vehicle traffic from within and outside Kukusan Village and southern segments more traffic vehicles come to Kukusan Village. Spatial-temporal analysis shows the northern segment more impassable by vehicle traffic in the Kukusan Village, the morning patterns at K. H. M Usman had value of vehicle volume 1,409.05 upc/hour in midle segmen, although the southern segment with value of degrees saturation 0,71 more than value of midle segmen.The afternoon pattern within highest volume on southern segmen with vehicle volume 1,251.8 upc/hour with degres saturation value 0,79. These results concluded that the road segment with highest number of POI had a highest degres saturation.</em></p><p><em><strong>Keyword</strong>: road networks, traffic, spatial modeling, spatial-temporal pattern</em></p>
Toll road construction has been carried out and has had an direct and indirect economic impact, which applies to Cipali Toll Road as well. High economic activities, growth of new facilities, and land use changes around this toll road are signs of new economic activities. New economic activity centers have triggered an increase in land prices in the surrounding area. The objective of this study is to determine the land use price changes along the Cipali Toll Road and understand the factors that influence it, namely the economic activity, distance from the toll road gate, land status, and land use. Data were collected by interviewing key informants from formal agencies and the communities as well. Using overlay technic between land price changes and factors that influence it, the result shows that land price changes did not happen in all areas around the toll road in the same way. Changes in land price also vary. The factor that influences land price changes is the distance from the toll road gate. This result was supported by Pearson Product Moment analysis. The conclusion of this study shows that land price changes in areas that have urban characteristics.
The 2014 Indonesian National Energy Policy has set a target to provide national primary energy usage reached 2.500 kWh per capita in the year 2025 and reached 7.000 kWh in the year 2050. The National Energy Policy state that the development of energy should consider the balance of energy economic values, energy supply security, and the conservation of the environment. This has led to the prioritization of renewable energy sources. Geothermal energy a renewable energy source that produces low carbon emissions and is widely available in Indonesia due to the country’s location in the “volcanic arc”. The development of geothermal energy faces several problems related to its potential locations in Indonesia. The potential sites for geothermal energy are mostly located in the volcanic landscapes that have a high hazard risk and are often designated protected areas. Local community low knowledge of geothermal use also a challenge for geothermal development where sometimes strong local culture stand in the way. Each phase of geothermal energy development (exploration, construction, operation and maintenance, and decommissioning) will have an impact on the landscape and everyone living in it. Meanwhile, natural and other human-induced drivers will keep landscapes and environments changing. This conference paper addresses the development of an integrated assessment to spatially measure the impact of geothermal energy development phases on ecosystem services. Listing the effects on the ecosystem services induced by each geothermal development phases and estimating the spatial impact using Geographic Information System (GIS) will result in an overview on where and how much each geothermal development phase affects the ecosystem and how this information could be included to improve national spatial planning.
