Background: School bullying is an aggressive behavior which tend to harm another in school environment. The incidents of bullying among adolescents happened in yunior high school was 66.1%. Generally adolescents who could not developed their assertiveness, will tend to be aggressive. Methods: A Quasi experimental pre-post test with control group was conducted among the adolescents the total subjects studied was 80. Data were analyzed by using SPSS (version 19). Results & Conclusion: the sample were randomized, resulting in a sample of 80 adolescents aged between 12 years to 14 years. There is a high significant with assertive knowledge and assertive behavior in pretest-posttest and a low significant association between abuse history with the assertiveness. Recommendations: 1-A longitudinal study can be carried out to prevent bullying. 2-The assertive training for adolescents should become a part of health school program with teacher and parents support.
Background: Disaster may bring such impacts as PTSD. Concerning flood that befell in Manado City, this study examined the effectiveness of CBT and CBT-plus intervention to overcome PTSD among school-age children that have been affected by flood disaster in this city.Methods: This quasi experiment pre-post-test study was done two a total of sixty children, divided into CBT group and CBT plus group. Play therapy was employed to for CBT plus group to see the difference of the PTSD score in comparison to the CBT only group’s PTSD score.Results: There were decreases in the score of PTSD among the children both in CBT only group and CBT plus group. Play therapy in CBT plus group could give higher reduction in PTDS score in comparison to children who received CBT only intervention.Conclusions: CBT plus intervention is proven effective in reducing PTDS score among children who are affected with PTDS.
<p><strong>Background:</strong> Suicide was the second leading cause of death among 15–29 year-olds globally in 2012. While the key elements in developing a national suicide prevention strategy not only the health sector but also education so far the training of coping skills for stress was not being a part of health school program to prevent suicide.</p><p><strong>Objective:</strong> This study conducted to explore the training of coping skills for stress on self-control and intensity of depression among adolescents with suicide risk.</p><p><strong>Method:</strong> This research design using a quasi-experimental pre-posttest with control group. The sample consisted of each 40 adolescents in the intervention group and in the control group.</p><p><strong>Results:</strong> We found that the adolescent’s self-control and the intensity of depression was improved significantly in the intervention group.</p><p><strong>Conclusion:</strong> The training of coping skills for stress appears to be effective in increasing self-control and decreasing intensity of depression. We recommended that the training of coping skills for stress for adolescents should become a health school program in suicide prevention.</p>
Background: Lack of knowledge about how to care for people with mental disorders makes the family feel depressed during the care process. Objective: To determine the factors that cause stress in ODGJ patients. Method: Population is a family that takes family members with mental disorders to the Mental Polyclinic. This type of research is an observational analytic conducted on 41 respondents. Accidental sampling technique. The measuring instrument used was a questionnaire that had been tested for validity based on Corrected item-total Correlation with alpha Cronbach's variables above 0.60. Results: This study showed no relationship between emotional factors (α = 0.055) and psychological situations (α = 0.118) with stress on the family and there was a relationship of perception (α = 0.044), life experience (α = 0.036) with stress on the family. Conclusions: There is no relationship between emotional factors with stress in families caring for people with mental disorders, there is a relationship between perception factors, life experiences with stress in families caring for people with mental disorders at Prof. Mental Hospital Dr.V.L Ratumbuysang. Suggestions for families are expected to better know and understand how to care for family members with mental disorders and important control to the clinic during illness.
