Die Geste macht den Körper - für sich und für andere - wahrnehmbar, ohne dass ein narrativer Zusammenhang bestehen muss. Sie ist eine direkte Adressierung, eine unmittelbare Theatralisierung des Körpers, ein Im-Medium-Sein. Kino und Tanz sind Künste, die von dieser pränarrativen Präsenz des Körpers und seiner Bewegung bestimmt sind. Die Beiträger_innen dieses Bandes gehen diesem Zusammenhang und der gegenseitigen Bezogenheit der Künste nach.
4 Türme, das ist die Bibliothèque nationale de France. Sie besitzen Namen - Temps, Lettres, Lois, Nombres -, die, in die Medienphilosophie übersetzt, deren 4 Grundbegriffe ausmachen: Echtzeit, Text, Archiv, Simulation. Auf der Suche nach ihren philosophischen Grundlagen ist der Autor auf die BruchÝ stelle zwischen Moderne und Postmoderne zurückgeworfen. Von hier aus liefern 4 Philosophen - Marx, Nietzsche, Husserl, Heidegger - den Stoff, den 4 Medienphilosophen - Virilio, Derrida, Foucault, Baudrillard - zu den 4 Grundbegriffen dekonstruieren. Die historische Perspektive macht dabei klar, wie sowohl die moderne Entbindung des »Subjekts« vom Menschen als eines personalen Individuums als auch die Medialisierung von »Sinnlichkeit« die mediale Matrix unserer gegenwärtigen Erfahrungswelten und Wahrnehmungen vorbereitet.
Mit »Bewegungsmaterial« greift dieser Band einen für Tanzpraxis und -wissenschaft ebenso zentralen und alltäglichen wie auch weitestgehend unbestimmten Begriff auf. Die versammelten Beiträge nähern sich ihm anhand verschiedener theoretischer und tänzerischer Ansätze. Dabei ist die Frage nach der Relationalität von Materialität, Produktionsprozessen, Bewegung und Visualität leitend, da erst aus ihrem Zusammenspiel das wird, was Tanz ist. Spezifische, materialgesättigte Untersuchungen zum Bewegungsmaterial in Probenprozessen, artistic research, Dramaturgie, Choreographie und Medialität sowie als Körperlichkeit geben dem Band analytische Genauigkeit.
