ZusammenfassungDer Beitrag untersucht, welche Handlungsstrategien Sozialarbeiter_innen der Jugendämter im Umgang mit Risikoeinschätzungsinstrumenten entwickeln. Empirische Grundlage sind Materialien aus einem ethnografischen Forschungszusammenhang. Gezeigt wird, wie Sozialarbeiter_innen von Risikoeinschätzungsinstrumenten – als Bestandteil organisationaler Entscheidungsstrukturen – zu komplexer Interpretationsarbeit herausgefordert werden. Vier Formen von Handlungsweisen werden mit Blick auf ihre Bedeutung für professionelles Handeln genauer betrachtet: „Durcharbeiten“, Häkchen setzen“, „Ignorieren“ und „Umarbeiten“. Betont wird, dass die beobachteten Strategien als Ausdruck situativer Herstellung von Professionalität verstanden werden sollten. Eine noch striktere Einbindung von Risikoeinschätzungsinstrumenten in digitale Workflows gefährde jedoch, eigenständige und situationsadäquate, professionelle Handlungsweisen im Umgang mit Risikoeinschätzungsinstrumenten.
Trotz des vermehrten Interesses aus der Wissenschaft ist bislang wenig darüber bekannt, wie die Beschäftigten der Jugendämter ihre teilweise folgenschweren Entscheidungen zum Kindeswohl fällen. Hier setzt Timo Ackermann an. Auf der Basis einer ethnographischen Feldforschung zeigt er, wie Entscheidungen über »Fremdunterbringungen« bearbeitet werden und wie die Sozialarbeiter_innen der Jugendämter damit umgehen, dass ihnen problematische Fallkonstellationen stets als Folgen eigener Entscheidungen zugerechnet werden können. Die Studie ermöglicht Einblicke in ein hochkomplexes Arbeitsfeld, in schwierige, dilemmatische Konstellationen und in Strategien ihrer Bearbeitung.
ZusammenfassungDie Digitalisierung von Gesellschaft und Sozialer Arbeit schreitet voran. Eine Beschäftigung mit der Thematik erscheint daher für (angehende) Sozialarbeit*innen, wie auch für Wissenschaftler*innen und Lehrende im Feld Sozialer Arbeit geboten. Die Nutzung von Big Data provoziert überzogene Hoffnungen und droht unter dem Deckmantel objektiver Kalkulationen Marginalisierungen zu reproduzieren. Für Soziale Arbeit und Frühe Hilfen wirkte die Einführung des § 8a als Katalysator für die Entwicklung von Risikoeinschätzungsverfahren. Die Verwendung von elektronischen Dokumentations- und Risikoeinschätzungssystemen stellt Ansprüche an individuelle Bearbeitung von Fällen in Frage. Risikoeinschätzungsinstrumente verlangen nach der knappen Aufmerksamkeit der Handelnden. Sie involvieren Praktiker*innen Sozialer Arbeit in intensive Interaktionen. Praktiker*innen und Lehrenden im Feld der Sozialer Arbeit kann nur geraten werden, sich gegenüber Instrumenten der Risikoeinschätzung, seien sie durch Big Data gestützt oder nicht, mit kritisch-forschender Distanz zu verhalten.
