Terbatasnya kajian penelitian tentang budaya pengasuhan anak usia dini pada konteks suku yang ada di Indonesia mendorong peneliti tertarik untuk mengangkat permasalahan bagaimana budaya pengasuhan anak usia dini dari keluarga suku Kutai, Banjar, dan Dayak di Kalimantan Timur. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah menarasikan budaya pengasuhan anak usia dini lintas suku (Kutai, Banjar, dan Dayak) dan proses internalisasi budaya pengasuhan dilakukan ditinjau nilai-nilai yang dianut, internalisasi karakter dan pengasuhan yang diaplikasikan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah grounded theory. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur pada 6 partisipan terdiri dari tiga pakar dan tiga keluarga berasal dari Kota Samarinda yang bersedia sebagai informan penelitian. Bentuk pertanyaan berupa pengalaman dalam pengasuhan anak sejak dini yang memungkinkan mereka untuk mengeksplorasi jawaban tersebut ditinjau dimensi budaya. Peneliti juga mengadopsi kode etik penelitian kualititatif untuk menyamarkan identitas partisipan dalam konteks budaya pengasuhan anak usia dini selama proses penelitian dilakukan. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan budaya pengasuhan anak usia dini keluarga suku Kutai, Banjar dan Dayak Kalimantan Timur dipengaruhi perspektif sejarah serta internalisasi pengasuhan melalui pembiasaan dan nilai-nilai kesukuan sebagai pembelajaran karakter anak di rumah.
