Introduction: Increasing studies have demonstrated that noncoding RNAs, including miRNAs and lncRNAs, have vital roles in mediating cancer progression. However, the expression features and biological functions of LINC00689 in gastric cancer (GC) remain largely unknown. This study was designed to investigate the functions of LINC00689, miR-526b-3p and ADAM9 as well as their interactions in GC. Methods: Real time PCR(RT-PCR) was used to detect the expression of LINC0068, miR-526b-3p and ADAM9 in both GC tissues or cell lines. Gain-and loss-of functions of assays were conducted to verify the role of LINC0068, miR-526b-3p and ADAM9 in GC development. Cell proliferation were determined by CCK8 assay and transwell assay and scratch wound-healing assay were used to test cell invasion and migration. Further, the relationships between LINC00689 and miR-526b-3p, miR-526b-3p and ADAM9 were predicted by bioinformatics analysis and then proved by Luciferase reporter assay and RNA Immunoprecipitation(RIP) assay. Results: We found that LINC00689 was upregulated in GC tissues and positively correlated with advanced tumor stage and tumor size, while miR-526b-3p was downregulated. Furthermore, gain-and loss-of-function experiments revealed that LINC00689 promoted the proliferation, migration, invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of GC cells, while miR-526b-3p had the opposite effects. The underlying mechanisms indicated that LINC00689 functioned as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by sponging miR-526b-3p in GC cells. Further investigations confirmed that ADAM9 was a direct target of miR-526b-3p and positively modulated the progression of GC. Conclusion: Our study suggests that LINC00689 functions as a novel oncogenic lncRNA in the development of GC by promoting ADAM9 expression through suppression of miR-526b-3p.
A complete case record of a deep foundation pit with pile-anchor retaining structure excavated in red sandstone stratum is presented in this study. The horizontal displacement of pile top, the horizontal displacement at various depths, the axial force of anchor cable, and ground settlement during construction are measured. A three-dimensional numerical model is established to analyze the additional stress and deformation induced by the excavation and the accuracy of the FEM model is verified by comparing with field measured results. Both the measured and numerical simulation results show that the deformation of the pile-anchor supported deep excavation is significantly affected by the spatial effect. The results show that the deformation in the middle of the foundation pit is greater than the pit angle and that the deformation of the long side is greater than that of the short side and gradually decreases from the middle to the pit angle. The deformation and stress in the middle of the long side of the foundation pit are the largest, which is the most unfavorable part. With the increase of vertical excavation depth, the spatial effects tend to increase, and the influence scope of spatial effects is about five times the vertical excavation depth in the red sandstone stratum. The ground settlement outside the pit is mainly distributed in a groove shape, and the maximum settlement occurs about 8.5 m away from the pit edge. Finally, parametric studies of reinforcement parameters indicated that 1.5–2.0 times the initial elastic modulus and cohesive force of soil should be used for reinforcement. It is recommended that the ranges for pile diameter, pile spacing, anchor cable prestressing and inclination angle should be selected as 0.8–1.2 m, 1.4–2.0 m, 100–150 kN, and 10°–20°, respectively.
The role of microbiological factors in the development of neurodegenerative diseases is attracting increasing attention, while the relationship remains debated. This study aimed to comprehensively summarize and evaluate the associations between microbiological factors and the risk of neurodegenerative disorders with an umbrella review. PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane library were used to search for papers from the earliest to March 2021 for identifying meta-analyses and systematic reviews that examined associations between microbiological factors and neurodegenerative diseases. AMSTAR2 tool was employed to evaluate the methodical quality of systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The effect size and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were recalculated with a random effect model after the overlap was recognized by the corrected covered area (CCA) method. The heterogeneity of each meta-analysis was measured by the I2 statistic and 95% prediction interval (95% PI). Additionally, publication bias and the quality of evidence were evaluated for all 37 unique associations. Only 4 associations had above the medium level of evidence, and the rest associations presented a low level of evidence. Among them, helicobacter pylori (HP), infection, and bacteria are associated with Parkinson's disease (PD), and the other one verifies that periodontal disease is a risk factor for all types of dementia. Following the evidence of our study, eradication of HP and aggressive treatment of periodontitis are beneficial for the prevention of PD and dementia, respectively. This umbrella review provides comprehensive quality-grade evidence on the relationship between microbial factors and neurodegenerative disease. Regardless of much evidence linking microbial factors to neurodegenerative diseases, these associations are not necessarily causal, and the evidence level is generally low. Background
Many studies have reported that bariatric surgery may reduce postoperative cardiovascular risk in patient with obesity, but few have addressed this risk in the Chinese population.
Objective
To assess the impact of bariatric surgery on cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in the Chinese population using the World Health Organization (WHO) risk model, the Global risk model, and the Framingham Risk Score.
Methods
We retrospectively analyzed data collected on patient with obesity who underwent bariatric surgery at our institution between March 2009 and January 2021. Their demographic characteristics, anthropometric variables, and glucolipid metabolic parameters were assessed preoperatively and at their 1-year postoperative follow-up. , as well as gender. We used the 3 models to calculate their CVD risk.
Results
We evaluated 61 patients, of whom 26 (42.62%) had undergone sleeve gastrectomy (SG) surgery and 35 (57.38%) Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery. Of the patients with BMI ≥ 35 kg/m

, 66.67% underwent SG, while 72.97% with BMI < 35 kg/m
2
underwent RYGB. HDL levels were significantly higher at 12 months postoperatively relative to baseline. When the models were applied to calculate CVD risk in Chinese patients with obesity, the 1-year CVD risk after surgery were reduced lot compared with the preoperative period.
Conclusion
Patient with obesity had significantly lower CVD risks after bariatric surgery. This study also demonstrates that the models are reliable clinical tools for assessing the impact of bariatric surgery on CVD risk in the Chinese population.
