Using methods from ergodic theory along with properties of the Furstenberg measure we obtain conditions under which certain classes of plane self-affine sets have Hausdorff or box-counting dimensions equal to their affinity dimension. We exhibit some new specific classes of self-affine sets for which these dimensions are equal. 1
We introduce a random dynamical system related to continued fraction expansions. It uses random combination of the Gauss map and the Rényi (or backwards) continued fraction map. We explore the continued fraction expansions that this system produces as well as the dynamical properties of the system.2010 Mathematics Subject Classification. Primary: 37C40, 11K50.
Using techniques introduced by C. Güntürk, we prove that the attractors of a family of overlapping self-affine iterated function systems contain a neighbourhood of zero for all parameters in a certain range. This corresponds to giving conditions under which a single sequence may serve as a 'simultaneous β-expansion' of different numbers in different bases.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
