Zeitgeschichte und Geschichtsdidaktik überschneiden sich in ihren Zielen. Beide streben nach wissenschaftlicher Aufklärung, beide wollen – auf Basis der zeitgeschichtlichen Erkenntnisse – dazu beitragen, dass der*die Lernende
seine*ihre „Lebenswelt“ (Alfred Schütz) bewältigen und gestalten kann. Der Beitrag umreißt diese Überschneidungen und entwickelt schließlich einen theoretisch-methodischen Zugang zur Praxis zeitgeschichtlichen Lernens.
Dabei wird gemäß der Lernpsychologie, unter anderem durch Handlungsorientierung und dem konzeptuellen Lernen, das lernende Subjekt mit der Objektebene historischen Lernens, mit historischen Inhalten und Methoden, verbunden.
Historisches Lernen sollte also nicht nur durch Instruktion, sondern auch selbstständig möglich sein.
