No Brasil, a situação da educação científica vem se mostrando preocupante. Uma das formas de investir nessa área é melhorando a formação dos professores de ciências para a educação básica. Sendo assim, essa pesquisa se concentrou em investigar a qualidade da reestruturação curricular de um curso de Licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas, principalmente por meio da concepção de alunas concluintes de tal curso sobre a formação que receberam. Ao total foram entrevistadas seis estudantes e as entrevistas foram transcritas e analisadas por meio da análise de conteúdo de Laurence Bardin. Foi feita também uma análise percentual comparativa simples entre as matrizes curriculares do curso, a primeira e a atual, a fim de compreender que alterações estruturais de fato ocorreram. Os resultados mostraram que a mudança na matriz curricular pouco contribuiu para trazer um aspecto maior de licenciatura para o curso e que, este, continua privilegiando em sua estruturação curricular a formação no campo da área disciplinar em detrimento da formação pedagógica.
O presente artigo possui como temática central a formação de professores, constituindo-se uma reflexão sobre a contribuição da formação acadêmico-profissional na construção e no fortalecimento da identidade docente em estudantes de licenciatura. A identidade profissional docente é multidimensional e não é estática, mas construída e modificada ao longo do tempo. Foram entrevistadas, nesta pesquisa, licenciandas de um curso de Ciências Biológicas de uma universidade pública, com o objetivo de compreender a influência do referido curso na construção das identidades profissionais das estudantes e na maneira como estas se veem no contexto da profissão docente. As estudantes, em sua maioria, não queriam ser professoras, no entanto, no decorrer do curso, influenciadas principalmente por programas de formação extracurriculares que propiciaram o contato com a escola, com os alunos e com a prática docente, passaram a vislumbrar o magistério como uma possibilidade de atuação profissional, ainda que incerta.
