The most studied impact on road ecology is roadkill, however, there is little information about the relations between highways and specific groups like bats. This study intended to identify the species of bats roadkilled and to evaluate the existence of temporal fluctuation between the roadkill rates, specific stretches of the road with higher rates, and characteristics of the road/landscape that may influence those rates. We encountered at least nine bat species among 65 roadkills (most Phyllostomidae), which comprise a subgroup of the local fauna that presents ecologic features that make them susceptible to being hit, especially Artibeus lituratus. The medium roadkill rate was of 0.01 individuals/km/day of monitoring, and there was no significant temporal variation. We identified five hotspots through special 2D HotSpot Identification Analysis. The selection of theoretical models through Generalized Linear Models showed that roadkill occurrence has a positive relation with vehicular traffic and negative relation with presence of marginal pasture and forests. As the major part of records was of species that are tolerant to human-disturbances, the increase in traffic consequently affected a higher number of bats capable to explore the area occupied by the road. The presence of native forest close to the road can lead to a decrease of animals hit by vehicles, once it offers more resources and favorable habitats, which reduces the need for bats to cross the roads for foraging. On the other hand, many species that necessarily depend on areas sheltered by trees for shelter, and do not possess the ability to fly long distances do not occur in open areas such as pastures. In this context, we suggest that the main measure of mitigation regard bat species would be the traffic control through speed limit, especially on the roadkill hotspots areas.
PALAVRAS-CHAVE:aplicação a lanço, deposição transversal, adubadora. SPREADING SEGREGATION OF TWO FERTILIZERS ABSTRACT:The transversal distribution uniformity of spreaders frequently used for fertilizer and lime distribution are dependent of the quality and physical condition of the product to be distributed. Especially for formulated fertilizers it is relevant and for this reason the objective of this work was verifying the distribution of particles and constancy on the applied composition throughout the spreading width of a spread machine with two fertilizers. The fertilizer collected along the distribution was submitted to chemical analyses and the distribution of each individual element was analyzed. The results indicate that both fertilizers showed differences on the formulation considering the distance from the throwing position to where they were collected. The composition which had micronutrients had the larger degradation to the applied formula (up to 100%) on them and elevated segregation on macronutrients (up to 9.5% for N) and secondary nutrients (up to 39.0% for Ca), showing a bad distribution for them. The other fertilizer also presented deviations of up to 17.8% for N and 34.1% for K on the fertilizer formula along the transversal distribution.KEYWORDS: fertilizer spreading, transversal deposition, fertilizer segregation.
INSTRUMENTED ROD CALIBRATION OF A PROTOTYPE SOIL MECHANICAL RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT PROTOTYPE ABSTRACT:The soil compaction is a problem that reaches most of the brazilian tillable areas and it can be caused by many factors, like the use of overweight agricultural machinery, the intense and, inappropriate use of tires load , to exceed recommended inflation pressures, the machinery traffic on soil with not recommended water content conditions, and many others. There are many types of models and systems that measures soil compaction in Brazil, but the sensors of these equipment require data processing and interpretation, what can result in a low operational capacity. The objective of this research was to calibrate a prototype capable of measuring soil resistance in three different layers and of storing soil mechanical resistance data. The equipment was developed to be attached to the front of the tractor to allow the rod vertical introduction into the soil, and it is controlled by the central hydraulic system of the tractor. The frontal prototype constituents ar...
A B S T R A C TThe spray boom is one of the sprayer components that most affect the application quality and may cause phytotoxicity and overlay application problems. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the displacement in the vertical and horizontal movements of the spray booms in three models of self-propelled boom sprayers. The vibrations of the spray boom in the vertical direction was measured using three receivers (GNSS) with RTK differential correction. The vibration measurements in the horizontal direction were determined using a high resolution camera. At the end, the processed data were entered into a spreadsheet for the descriptive statistics. The smallest spray boom movement in the horizontal direction was obtained by the specimen 2. No statistical differences were observed between the different speeds for the spray boom vibration in the horizontal and vertical directions, in the evaluated sprayers. The largest vertical movements of the spray booms were observed for the self-propelled specimen 3. The impact/collision route type showed the highest deviations and, in undulating and gentle to undulating types, there was no significant difference in deviation values.
In Brazil, there are several available models and systems to measure soil compaction; however, the data generated by such equipment have to be processed and interpreted, making the process expensive. Our study aimed to evaluate a prototype of instrumented rods to identify soil compacted layers and control chiseling depth, and compared it to a conventional system at a fixed depth of 0.35 m. In order to compare them, we assessed the following parameters: hourly fuel consumption, operational fuel consumption, drawbar power, average power, average speed, slipping, tractor effective field capacity and response time. Our results showed that mechanical chiseling at variable depths reduced in 26% the operational fuel consumption and increased in 14% the effective field capacity. Furthermore, the prototype of chisel plow automated control generated maps displaying spatial variability of soil mechanical resistance with resolution, sampling density and high operating capacity.
