Atividades agrícolas alternativas, como a cultura do morango, têm despertado o interesse de agricultores no Oeste Catarinense (região sul). O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar um diagnóstico da produção comercial de morangos na safra 2020 desta região, possibilitando o planejamento de ações de assistência técnica no cultivo e de desenvolvimento da cadeia produtiva. As informações foram coletadas através de questionários aplicados aos extensionistas rurais da Epagri (Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuária e Extensão Rural de Santa Catarina) responsáveis pelos municípios pertencentes à Unidade de Gestão Técnica 1 (UGT 1 - Oeste Catarinense), englobando 36 municípios. Os dados foram sistematizados, a fim de definir os parâmetros: número de produtores e de plantas por município; número de plantas por cultivar; porcentagem de plantas de “primeiro ciclo” ou com “dois ou mais ciclos”; número e percentual de produtores quanto a: i) origem das mudas utilizadas; ii) recebimento de assistência técnica; iii) sistema de produção; iv) sistema de cultivo; v) rastreabilidade da produção; e vi) valor e forma de comercialização. De acordo com os dados coletados, verificou-se que o Oeste Catarinense possui 68 produtores, que estão presentes em 67% dos municípios e cultivam 358.565 plantas. As cultivares Albion e San Andreas são as mais utilizadas. A maior parte dos cultivos é convencional (70,6%), com uso do sistema semi-hidropônico em bancadas e túnel alto (60,3%). A comercialização in natura e direta ao consumidor é feita por grande parte dos produtores, com valor médio de comercialização de R$ 19,81/kg (3.70 US$). Estas características devem ser levadas em consideração para o planejamento do desenvolvimento da cadeia produtiva na região.
O objetivo do trabalho foi realizar um levantamento de dados sobre a produção de morangos na região Oeste Catarinense, que possibilite o planejamento de ações de assistência técnica no cultivo e de desenvolvimento da cadeia produtiva. O levantamento foi realizado no ano de 2019, através da aplicação de um questionário aos extensionistas da Epagri. Os dados pesquisados foram o número de produtores por munícipio, sistema de cultivo, número de plantas por produtor e as cultivares plantadas. Os resultados demonstram que existem 74 produtores de morango distribuídos em 81% dos municípios da região. O principal sistema de produção adotado é o semi-hidropônico em bancadas elevadas que se encontra presente em 66% das propriedades. Dos 74 produtores, 84% produzem no sistema convencional. Em relação ao número de plantas cultivadas, 50% possuem menos de 2500 plantas e 74% menos de 5000 plantas. Os cultivares predominantes são San Andreas e Albion.
A mesorregião do Oeste catarinense é a principal região produtora de citros do estado. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar um levantamento acerca da relevância econômica da atividade citrícola e do monitoramento e manejo de mosca-das-frutas adotado pelos citricultores do oeste catarinense. Um questionário com 13 perguntas foi aplicado in loco a 58 citricultores e as respostas foram organizadas para análise dos resultados. No oeste catarinense, para grande parte dos entrevistados (67,8%), a citricultura é uma atividade complementar de outras principais. A maioria dos citricultores (91,38%) considera a mosca-das-frutas um dos principais problemas fitossanitários da cultura e apenas 12,07% relatam como baixo o grau de incidência desta praga em seus pomares. No entanto, boa parte dos agricultores não faz monitoramento do inseto (41,4%) ou desconhece o assunto (13,8%). Dos que realizam monitoramento, 56,25% o fazem com uso de armadilhas, enquanto 43,75% monitoram por meio da observação visual dos frutos. O controle químico é realizado por praticamente metade dos citricultores, tendo, erroneamente, como base de decisão a presença de frutos caídos ou ainda por meio de aplicações por calendário. Os dados apresentados são preocupantes e revelam a negligência de boa parte dos citricultores com o monitoramento desta importante praga.
