Die Kennzeichnung unseres Buches als Lehrbuch schließt es selbstverständlich aus, daß in diesem Buche wie in einem Handbuch alles und jedes zu finden ist. Um den Rahmen eines immerhin kurzgefaßten Lehrbuches nicht zu sprengen, haben die Verfasser sich selbst große Beschränkungen auferlegen und manche eigene Wünsche zurückstellen müssen. Eine erschöpfende Darstellung des Gesamtgebietes der elektrischen Maschinen und Transformatoren ist in einem Buche des gewählten Umfanges nicht möglich. Wir sind auch der Meinung, daß gerade für den Studierenden und angehenden Ingenieur eine Überfülle abschreckend und verwirrend wirken würde.Das Buch baut sich zum Teil auch auf eigenen Arbeiten der Verfasser auf. Daß überdies das neueste Schrifttum berücksichtigt wurde, braucht wohl nicht hervorgehoben zu werden. Von der Anfügung eines umfassenden Verzeichnisses des Schrifttums wurde jedoch abgesehen. Es wurden nur die Wege aufgezeigt, die man beschreiten muß, um das Schrifttum über das Gebiet der elektrischen Maschinen und Transformatoren kennenzulernen. Hinweise auf einzelne Aufsätze erfolgen in Fußbemerkungen. Am Schlusse des Buches wurden die für ein weiteres Studium in Betracht kommenden Bücher zusammengestellt.Um den Preis des Buches möglichst niedrig zu halten, wurden viele Bilder Büchern entlehnt, die aus dem gleichen Verlage stammen; oder Aufsätzen entnommen oder von Firmen erbeten.Dem Leser wird empfohlen, den Abschnitt über die Streuung bei elektrischen Maschinen und Transformatoren (IG) erst nach dem Studium des Buches vorzunehmen.Wir danken den Herren Dr.-Ing.
