O objetivo deste ensaio é refletir sobre a constituição do sujeito e suas possibilidades de transformação a partir da relação entre subjetividade, trabalho e criação. Para tal discorremos brevemente sobre a noção de dialética, tendo por base as apropriações das tradições marxianas e psicanalíticas. Posteriormente recorremos a crítica e reflexão da filosofia nietzschiana, sobretudo a partir das leituras de Michel Foucault e Rosa Dias para expandir o debate e caminhar para outras formas de compreensão subjetiva. Neste caminho, destacamos algumas divergências entre tais vertentes considerando a crítica nietzschiana à noção de dialética, bem como alguns pontos de convergência, a partir dos sentidos comuns atribuídos ao trabalho no âmbito da psicossociologia e do ato da criação na filosofia da arte de Nietzsche. Comum nestas distintas concepções parece ser a compreensão que a subjetividade é uma produção social, e como tal passível de transformação em meio às relações sociais. No entanto, vertentes inspiradas na dialética parecem indicar o trabalho como condição essencial humana, de modo que as transformações subjetivas se dão nos movimentos criativos que se opõe a alienação do trabalho por meio de uma reapropriação do seu sentido. Por sua vez, leituras de inspiração nietzschiana enfatizam a investigação da produção histórica da subjetividade, olhando atentamente as técnicas de si, movimentos que permitem com que o sujeito atue sobre si mesmo, criando formas de governar a própria vida em uma complexa trama de relações de poder.
