From their shear strain dependence conclusions have boon drawn concerning the behaviour of dislocations during deformation of this compoiintl completely brittle nt room temperature.
Single crystals of the LAVES phase MgZn, of different chemical composition within the range of homogeneity were deformed by dynamic compression a t temperatures from 300 to 500 "C. The surfaces of the specimens were observed by light microscopy. Special types of inhomogeneities of deformation (Luders bands, macro-slip steps) are described and first conclusions are drawn concerning the behaviour of dislocations in this substance.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
