Amylases have the ability to catalyze the α-1,4 binding of starch by releasing glucose and dextrin, with prominence in several industrial fields. The research sought to characterize the enzyme amylase obtained from the fungus Rhizopus microsporus var. oligosporus, through the Doehlert methodology, evaluating the behavior of the enzyme in the face of variations in pH and temperature. The production of amylase occurred with the use of starch as an inducer, and the characterization was carried out using the response surface methodology, with pH analysis at 5 levels (3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0) and temperature in 3 levels (30, 50 and 70°C). The evaluation of the amylase thermostability occurred at 60, 70 and 80ºC. The application of the experimental model indicated that the amylase obtained from R. microsporus var. oligosporus shows better catalytic development at temperatures between 40ºC and 55ºC and pH between 2.5 and 3.2. The evaluation of thermostability indicated that the increase in temperature negatively influences the catalytic activity of amylase. The experimental model led to the understanding of the conditions favorable to the production of amylases from R. microsporus var. oligosporus.

O Diabetes Mellitus é um problema de saúde pública que provoca inúmeras internações. Este estudo avaliou à adesão ao tratamento medicamentoso de pacientes diabéticos cadastrados no programa Hiperdia em uma unidade de saúde do município de Jequié-Ba. Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo, descritivo analítico e de corte transversal, que foi desenvolvido no Centro de Saúde Almerinda Lomanto e contou com 81 pacientes. Um formulário referente à aspectos sociodemográficos, hábito de vida e aspectos clínicos da doença foi aplicado, além dos testes de Morisky e Batalla, que avaliaram a adesão ao tratamento medicamentoso. A análise dos dados foi realizada pelo programa SPSS. A associação entre a adesão e as variáveis independentes foi analisada pelo teste de qui-quadrado (X2), a hipótese de associação foi aceita quando a probabilidade fosse ≤ 0,05. O perfil sociodemográfico demonstrou a maior prevalência de mulheres, idosos, solteiros, aposentados, com ensino fundamental incompleto e renda de 1- 2 salários mínimos. A adesão foi observada em 40,7% dos participantes, pelo teste de Batalla, e 51,9 % pelo teste de Morisky. Quanto à associação estatística, a adesão pelo teste de Morisky apresentou significância quando relacionada a renda, porém, pelo teste de Batalla, apenas a variável tabagismo foi significante. Não houve associação significativa entre as demais variáveis em ambos os testes. Os pacientes atendidos no Centro de saúde relataram dificuldade em aderir a terapêutica medicamentosa para diabetes, principalmente, por falta de informação sobre a doença e o tratamento, ressaltando a importância da comunicação dos pacientes com os profissionais de saúde.

Invertase (β-fructofuranosidase, EC 3.2.1.26) catalyzes sucrose hydrolysis into glucose and fructose and it is one of the simplest carbohydrases. These enzymes occur widely in nature and their presence has been reported in microorganisms and plants. Since yeasts are the main industrial source, most researches concerning this enzyme have focused on invertase extracted from such source. This study extracted and characterized inverted intracellular (Inv-I) and extracellular (Inv-E) of Kluyveromyces marxianus CCMB 322 isolated in the baiano semi-arid region. Kluyveromyces marxianus CCMB 322 produces intracellular and extracellular invertase with different characteristics. The optimum activity was achieved at approximately pH 3.9 and 45ºC, in Inv-I and Inv-E. The invertases produced by K. marxianus CCMB 322 showed thermal stability similar to that found in other studies. The Km and Vmax values of the Inv-I enzyme were 61.12mM and 5.56 µmol/mL.min-1, but the Km and Vmax values of the Inv-E enzyme were 76.5mM and 0.364 µmol/mL.min-1. Inverted from K. marxianus is a higher affinity for sucrose compared to enzymes from other sources.

The glucocorticoid receptor regulates the anti-inflammatory response, and prevents transcription of anti-inflammatory substances such as nuclear factor kB and lipocortin-1, IL-2, IL-6, TNF and prostaglandins. Thus, a search for new molecules with potential interaction with the glucocorticoid receptor is an interesting strategy for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. Virtual screening has proven to be a viable tool for discovering new products at lower cost and practicality. Thus, the aim of this study is to identify and evaluate brazilian semiarid compounds with anti-inflammatory potential with glucocorticoid receptor action through molecular coupling. Protein selection was performed by searching the 3D structure database, Protein Data Bank. A total of 382 semi-arid molecules available in the ZINC database of State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS) were used. Molecular docking was performed using Autodock Vina and as interaction clouds analyzed by the Discovery Studio Visualizer program. Mometasone furoate shows a binding energy of -12.7 Kcal.mol-1. A ZINC 69481862 molecule fits Lipinski and Veber rules, however, the best interaction was the ZINC 69482012 molecule, evidenced by the binding energy -11.2 Kcal.mol-1. Analyses of intermolecular interactions have shown that Van der Waals interactions and electrostatic bonds are crucial for the binding of the molecule at the receptor's active site. It is necessary to test in vitro to verify the viability and toxicity of the potential drug.

Objetivo: O presente trabalho tem como finalidade investigar os estudos realizados na literatura, buscando evidências científicas que corroborem o uso dos fitoterápicos citados, com ação anabolizante, atestando seus riscos e benefícios.Método: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa, utilizando o método PRISMA (Principais Itens para Relatar Revisões Sistemáticas e Meta-análise) como exemplo, onde foram buscados nas bases de dados estudos clínicos em animais e humanos.Resultados e discussão: Verificando as informações obtidas, observou-se que alguns fitoterápicos obtiveram efeito ergogênico positivo elevando os níveis de testosterona livre e força muscular, mas não induziram o aumento de massa corporal magra. Também houve aumento na libido, motilidade e qualidade de esperma, bem como outros efeitos benéficos a saúde. Conclusão: Desta forma, não possuem estudos conclusivos que comprovem a efetividade dos mesmos para o aumento de massa muscular decorrente da indução de produção de testosterona. Mucuna pruriens e Eurycoma longifolia (long jack) obtiveram os melhores resultados no que diz respeito ao efeito ergogênico e testosterona sérica, ainda assim mais ensaios clínicos em humanos são necessários para comprovar sua completa incontestabilidade.

Filamentous fungi are eukaryotic organisms with several industrial and pharmaceutical applications. Polysaccharides are the principal components of cell walls from Fungi and other organisms like diatoms, and have been reported in the industrial and medical fields as products with a huge number of different biological activities and applications. The objectives of this narrative review were to assess the characterization methods and and biological activities of polysaccharides extracted from the filamentous fungal cell wall. Glucans, chitin and galactomannans are the most common polysaccharide often found in the cell walls of fungi. These polysaccharides can contain different glycosidic linkage either an α or β-configuration and at various positions, such as (1-3,1-4, 1-6), as well as several molecular sizes. This leads to an almost limitless diversity in their structure and biological activity. There are many methods for polysaccharides characterization, among them; the methods commonly used involve Infrared Spectrometry (FT-IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS), and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (CG-MS). Typically, cell wall polysaccharides from filamentous fungi have been shown to possess complex, important and multifaceted biological activities including mainly antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antinociceptive, antitumor and hypoglycemic activities. Due to the large number of filamentous fungi genus and species capable of producing useful polysaccharides, perform scientific researches, and produce novel scientific knowledge and information are particularly interesting in order to identify polysaccharides with potential biological activity and that can be used for medicinal purposes.

Diabetes mellitus é considerado um grave problema de saúde pública, pois afeta milhões de indivíduos e causa inúmeras complicações. Os constantes efeitos adversos das terapias convencionais para diabetes mellitus têm estimulado pesquisas que buscam novas formas de tratamento, prevenção e controle. Polissacarídeos obtidos de fungos são promissores como adjuvantes no controle do diabetes mellitus. Este estudo é uma revisão de literatura que buscou avaliar as propriedades hipoglicemiantes de polissacarídeos obtidos de fungos e compreender os principais mecanismos de ação envolvidos. Os principais mecanismos relatados nos estudos que resultaram na diminuição da glicemia foram a inibição de enzimas digestivas, como α-amilase e α-glicosidase, ação nas vias de sinalização IRS1, PI3K, JNK1, antioxidante, anti-inflamatória, capacidade hipolipidêmica e estimulação da microbiota intestinal.
