The article presents an analysis of the relevance and the content of the problem of resilience of people of pre-retirement and retirement age by means of physical training and sports. The anal-ysis of those psychological and physiological problems which arise in persons of pre-retirement and retirement age at the time of retirement is carried out and the need for their solution is justi-fied. The authors reveal the content of the concept of resilience in science and emphasize its im-portance to resist various negative environmental factors and to increase the stability and ac-tivity of individual life position. The authors focus on the fact that the relationship between the resilience of the individual and physical health has been studied and revealed in the science. It is noted that the principles and values of physical training and sports can be an effective means of increasing and developing the resilience of a person especially the pensioners and the per-sons of pre-retirement age. Physical training and sports have a positive impact: they not only promote human health but also increase self-confidence and susceptibility to depression. The article states the problem of developing the resilience of people of pre-retirement and retirement age by means of physical training requires additional research in the direction of studying the relationship between resilience and various aspects of physical health, between physical activity and stress resistance in older age. Improving the resilience of the elderly people by means of physical training and sports is associated with the need of promoting new diagnostic techniques and technologies for the development of resilience in the process of applying physical activity and the elements of sports accounting the physical and psychological characteristics of this age group.
