In Brazil, abortion is among the leading causes of maternal mortality. Research has shown that abortion is practiced clandestinely by women of all social classes, but has unequal consequences depending on social inclusion, producing risks to poor women. Although the issue has been widely explored in the past 20 years, there is a lack of data about low-income women. Thus, the present study aims to estimate the prevalence of women with induced abortion. Women from a population-based household survey in low-income sectors of São Vicente, São Paulo were recruited. Women of childbearing age from 15 to 49 years were eligible. The evaluation of the prevalence ratios for women with induced abortion was performed by using generalized linear models, with Poisson log-link function and robust variance to approximate the binomial. The most frequent variables that influenced reporting of abortion were: "always accept this practice" (95% CI 2.98-11.02), followed by "not having a child born alive" (95% CI 1.35-19.78), having "two to five live births" (95% CI 1.42-14.40), "having 'six or more live births" (95% CI 1.35-19.78), "age at interview" (95% CI 1.01-1.07) and "income" < R$ 484.97' (95% CI 1.04-2.96). A widespread campaign about the practice of abortion, which can raise awareness among women in favor of the cause, especially among those in low-income strata is necessary to prevent unnecessary deaths.

ResumoObjetivo: Comparar os diferentes pontos anatômicos de medida da circunferência da cintura, bem como a eficácia desses locais em predizer o percentual de gordura corporal mensurado pela bioimpedância elétrica tetrapolar. Métodos:Foram avaliadas 205 crianças de 6 a 9 anos de idade de ambos os sexos. Foram coletados dados de peso, estatura e circunferência da cintura em três locais diferentes: na menor curvatura abdominal, sobre a cicatriz umbilical e no ponto médio entre a última costela e crista ilíaca. A avaliação do estado nutricional foi realizada a partir do índice de massa corporal/idade recomendado pela Organização Mundial de Saúde. Resultados:No presente estudo houve homogeneidade entre os sexos, e a idade média foi de 7,2±1,2 anos. Em relação ao estado nutricional, 6,3% das crianças apresentaram baixo peso, 75,1% eram eutróficas, 7,3% apresentaram sobrepeso e 11,2% obesidade.No sexo masculino não houve diferença estatística entre os diferentes locais de medida. No feminino, a medida sobre a cicatriz umbilical foi estatisticamente maior. Na análise de correlação, a circunferência medida no ponto médio foi a que obteve melhor correlação com o percentual de gordura corporal, com valores de 0,50 nos meninos e 0,62 nas meninas. Conclusão:A circunferência da cintura medida no ponto médio entre a crista ilíaca e ultima costela foi a que apresentou melhor correlação com o percentual de gordura corporal. Methods:We evaluated 205 children from 6 to 9 years of age of both sexes. Data on weight, height and waist circumference were collected at three different sites: at the lower abdominal curvature, above the navel and at the midpoint between the last rib and the iliac crest. Nutritional status was assessed through the body mass index (BMI)/age as recommended by the World Health Organization. Results:The sample was considered homogeneous in terms of sex, and the mean age was 7.2±1.2 years. Regarding nutritional status, 6.3% of the children had low weight, 75.1% were eutrophic, 7.3% were overweight, and 11.2% were obese. Among males, there was no statistical difference between the different sites of measurement; in females, the measurement above the navel was statistically higher. In the correlation analysis, the midpoint measurement showed the best correlation with percentage of body fat, with values of 0.50 in boys and 0.62 in girls. This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional profile and ergonomic aspects related to the work of employees of a Food and Nutrition Unit (UAN), analyzing the relationship between working conditions and nutritional status with the presence of more frequent pain and complaints during the working day. 13 employees (5 women and 8 men) were interviewed, 23% were between 20 and 30 years old, 23% were between 30 and 40 years old, 30.7% were between 40 and 50 years and only 15% are over 50 years old. It was found that the work performed by the majority (76.9%) requires excessive physical effort, loading and weight lifting for long periods and standing posture. With these reports the mapping of the risks found in the UAN was created aiming to promote the improvement of the work of the collaborators. The nutritional evaluation performed with the employees indicated eutrophy (46.15%), overweight (38.46%) and obesity grade I (53.84%). We conclude, therefore, that UANs are environments that represent risks to work-related diseases and accidents, due to their infrastructure, which is often inadequate from the point of view of legislation and the inadequate use of PPE. We also verified the importance of the risk map within the UAN so that workers as a way of prevention, monitoring, control, health and safety of the employee.
