Objective. The research is aimed at revealing the repository as an important tool for storing and promoting open access resources and open educational resources (OER) as a component of open access resources, and the role of the library in these processes. Methods. To achieve the purpose of the research, a complex of scientific methods was applied, including analysis and synthesis, comparison, statistical method and direct study of practical experience through the analysis of library reports. Results. During the research it was summarized the information about open access resources, in particular OER; examples of the national policy of forming repositories were considered; the experience of the formation and use of institutional repositories in the technical universities of Kharkiv and Mykolaiv was studied; the foreign experience of creating and functioning of repositories of the information-library profile was considered. Conclusions. The further direction of the university library in the promotion of the OER initiative is substantiated, namely, convergence of library activities with educational activities in the aspect of creating, planning, and organizing access to open educational electronic resources.
Objective. The article considers the analytical work of the Scientific Library of Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (NUS) on the publishing activity of the university at the international scientometric platforms. Methods of the research are based on a systematic approach, structural-functional and scientometric analysis of methods for evaluating the effectiveness and publication activity of academic staff and the university as a whole. Results. During the study, the authors proved: 1. Scientific Library of Admiral Makarov NUS actively implements innovative forms of activity, develops and diversifies the library service to aid the university research work; 2. The role of the Scientific Library as an active partner at the stages of the life cycle of scientific research of university scientists is growing; 3. Analytical work of the Scientific Library of Admiral Makarov NUS on the publishing activity of the university emphasizes and strengthens the role of the library in the processes of increasing the representation of university scientists in the global space of scientific communications, the introduction of scientometric and bibliometric research methods. Conclusions. Originality of the work lies in the expansion of ideas about the analytical work of the Scientific Library of Admiral Makarov NUS on the publishing activity of the university, which today is an important factor for further objective evaluation of the effectiveness of the academic library. This provides an opportunity to better understand the specifics of the scientific activities of HEI libraries as resource and information centres. Practical value. The obtained results can be used to increase the publishing activity of HEI at the international scientometric platforms.
The study is aimed at obtaining new up-to-date knowledge and analysis of already existing one about the development of the "Dredging" direction in the world scientific space using the products and services of the Scopus scientometric database. Therefore, the chronological framework of the scientific articles under study is limited only by their availability in the Scopus database. Methods. In order to obtain relevant empirical data, the authors of the study reviewed the world scientific literature on the topic "Dredging" using the resources of the international reference and scientometric database of peer-reviewed literature Scopus. The algorithm of "step by step" actions in the Scopus database is considered: 1. Forming the circle of the most cited publications; 2. Defining the most relevant topics; 3. Identifying the most productive authors; 4. Determining the level of representation in the Scopus database of publications of Ukrainian scientists by the research topic. Results. During the study the authors have proved: 1. The main topics of the "Dredging" direction are: the impact of dredging on the ecology of the aquatic environment and marine life; models and algorithms for assessing and minimizing the risks associated with dredging; application of bottom sediments after dredging and their disposal in open waters; dredging fleet maintenance; 2. Scientists of our country are very slowly joining the world processes of exchange of scientific information in the "Dredging" direction; 3. The most intellectually productive authors of scientific articles in this field are scientists from the USA, Spain, Great Britain and Australia. Conclusions. For the first time in Ukraine, the authors conducted a bibliometric study in the field of water transport (subject area "Dredging") on the basis of products and services of the Scopus scientometric database. The results obtained can be used for further scientific research on this and related topics, as well as applied in the dredging discipline teaching process.
