Passive surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors, which are a combination of a SAW device and a classical sensor, have attracted recent interest. These sensors can detect physical quantities without a power supply and does not require maintenance. In this study, passive SAW sensors are modeled using coupling of modes (COM) theory. To optimize the COM parameters, Brent's method is adopted. The simulated and measured results are in good agreement. Then, the model is applied as a novel identification method for SAW devices using a characteristic of a passive SAW sensor. The simulated results indicate the applicability of the new identification method for SAW sensors.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
