The nuclear reaction H 3 (, w)He 4 has been studied for deuteron energies from 10 kev up to 1732 kev. The yield curve exhibits a maximum at a deuteron energy of 109 kev, where the total cross section is 5.1 ±0.1 X 10~2 4 cm 2 . The experimental data accurately fit a single level Breit-Wigner resonance curve for deuteron energies below 500 kev. Above this energy the experimental cross section is larger than predicted by a single level in the compound He 5 nucleus.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
