SITTE, Syracuse University.-The local production of penetrating showers, both by single penetrating particles and by air shower particles, has been studied at an altitude of 3260 m. From the results, the following conclusions can be drawn: (1) The production in a nuclear collision of a shower containing several penetrating particles becomes probable only at very large primary energies.
