Bei der Reaktion der Bromketone (I) mit KCN werden die Cyanketone (II) erhalten; die bei dieser Reaktion auftretenden Intermediärstufen (III) entstehen aus (I) mit K‐tert.‐butylat.
Die Synthese der Titelverbindung (XIa) erfolgt ausgehend vom Lacton (Ia) über die Stufen (Ib) (aus (Ia) durch Photoreaktion mit NBS; daneben das Isomere (II), das beim Erhitzen in Toluol teilweise in (Ib) übergeht), (VII) (daneben das Isomere (VI)), (VIII), (Xa) und (Xb); (XIa) ist vom ebenfalls gebildeten Epimeren (XIb) abtrennbar.
Im Zusammenhang mit der cytotoxischen Aktivität natürlicher Terpene, die ein α‐Methylen‐y‐lacton als biologisch aktive Einheit enthalten, werden zur Untersuchung der Struktur‐Aktivitäts‐Beziehung die cx‐Cyclopropyl‐y‐lactone (V), (XI) und (XV) sowie die Analogen (XVIII) synthetisiert.
Die Bromierung der Bicycloheptenone (I) ‐ in Methanol ‐ führt zu den exo‐Brom‐Derivaten (II); die Bromierung der Oxabicyclooctenone (III) ‐ in Eisessig ‐ gibt Gemische der Isomeren (IV) und (V) (neben (IVa) + (Va) außerdem noch das Isomere (VI)).
