ChemInform Abstract Condensation of 1,3-diacetylbenzene (I) with the benzaldehydes (II) produces the 1,3-cinnamoylbenzenes (III) which react with hydrazine hydrate (IV) to form the 3,3'-m-phenylenebis(5-aryl-2-pyrazolines) (V). The compounds (V) are converted to the derivatives (VI) which have no antibacterial activity but show significant antifungal activity. Cyclocondensation of the 1-aryl-2-propen-1-ones (IX), obtained from benzene-1,4-dicarboxaldehyde (VII) and the acetophenones (VIII), with hydrazine hydrate (IV) leads to the formation of the pyrazoline derivatives (XI).
ChemInform is a weekly Abstracting Service, delivering concise information at a glance that was extracted from about 100 leading journals. To access a ChemInform Abstract of an article which was published elsewhere, please select a “Full Text” option. The original article is trackable via the “References” option.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
