Summary: The sera of 35 patients with positive rheumatoid factor were examined by an IgM Candida immunofluorescence test. No significant difference was found between the IgM Candida antibody titres before and after elimination of the expected rheumatoid factor interference using ion‐exchange chromatography of the sera. Consequently, IgM‐class rheumatoid factor interference in the IgM Candida immunofluorescence test was not demonstrated, even when high rheumatoid factor titres, shown by latex‐agglutination, and IgG Candida antibody titres were present.
Summary. Successful treatment of a disseminated Trichophyton rubrum infection of the nails is reported. Under therapy with 50 mg/100 mg itraconazole daily total remission was achieved after 5 months (fmger nails) and 6 months (toe nails) respectively. Plasma levels of itraconazole were determined twice a month to control the regularity of the treatment using HPLC.
