A single-domain SrTiO3 crystal is obtained by stressing along the [110] direction at 2°K and is observed optically for the first time. Domain structure under [001] stress is also examined. The importance of understanding the domain structure is discussed.
Tetragonal domain structure of SrTiO3 is studied at 2 °K under uniaxial stresses along [001] and [110] directions. A single-domain crystal with [001] tetragonal axis is obtained by compressively stressing along [110] and is confirmed by Cr3+ fluorescence. Only domains with axis along [100] and [010] are observed under [001] stress.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
