Ahsfracf-In this paper, we propose a turbo decoding method for a lowdensity generator matrix code. I t is based on the Bahl-Cwke-Jelinek-Raviv (BCJR) algorithm and the belief propagation (BP) algorithm. Userbits with high error probability are selected for the BP algorithm by using the soft-mtput of the BCJR algorithm. Since the amount of calculation in the BP algorithm increases exponentially with the number of the userbits, the amount of calculation is reduced drastically by the selection of the userbits with higher error probabfity. We showed that the use of the proposed algorithm and 16/17 MTR code on an MEEPR4 channel results in a performance better than that obtained without turbo decoding.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
