A nucleonic analysis of the Engineering Test Facility neutral-beam-injector-duct and vacuum-pumping-duct shields has been made using a hybrid Monte Carlo/discrete-ordinates method. This method used Monte Carlo to determine internal and external boundary surface sources for subsequent discrete-ordinates calculations of the neutron and gamma-ray transport through the shields. Confidence was provided in both the hybrid method and the results obtained through a comparison with three-dimensional Monte Carlo results. Also determined in the analysis were the energy and angular distributions of neutrons and gamma rays entering the neutral-beam-injector duct from the toroidal plasma chamber, as well as exiting the duct into the neutral-beaminjector chamber. In addition, the energy and angular distributions of neutrons entering the vacuum-pumping chamber were determined. I.
TRIDENT-CTR is a two-dimensional, x-y and r-z geometry, multigroup, neutral particle transport code, developed for toroidal calculations. The use of triangular finite elements gives it the geometric flexibility to cope with the nonorthogonal shapes of many toroidal designs. This manual is intended to be a guide for the users of TRIDENT-CTR in making up the input required by the code, and not a description of the code theory and architecture. I.
A paramagnetic resonance study of natural crystals of the mineral adamite has indicated the presence of the Cu2+ ion in two pairs of magnetically inequivalent sites. One of the pairs exhibits axial symmetry with spin Hamiltonian parameters g∥ = 2.338, g⟂ = 2.080, A z63 = 117 × 10−4 cm−1, A z65=125 × 10−4 cm−1, and Ax=Ay=6.8 × 10−4 cm−1 and may be attributed to substitution into the octahedrally coordinated site. The parameters may be interpreted assuming a d italicx 2–italicy 2 ground state and a small admixture of the Γ5‐states through spin‐orbit coupling. The second pair of sites, with gx = 2.253, gy = 2.019, gz = 2.343, Ax = 21 × 10−4 cm−1, Ay = 71 × 10−4 cm−1, and Az = 82 × 10−4 cm−1, has been attributed to occupation of the quite unusual 5‐coordinated site, and these parameters are consistent with a predominantly d italicx 2–italicy 2 ground state.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
