Bis-and tris-tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivatives have been prepared by coupling together TTF monoacids and diacids with diaminopropane spacers. These new materials were successfully deposited to give Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films, but the films generally showed low conductivity, except for one non-amphiphilic sample that had been doped with iodine ( C T ~ = 6 x 1 0-3 S em-'). This demonstrates that non-amphiphilic TTF derivatives can be used to prepare conducting LB films without the addition of stabilising materials such as fatty acids.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
