Three new lavandulylated flavonoids, (2S,2″S)-6-lavandulyl-7,4′-dimethoxy-5,2′-dihydroxylflavanone (1), (2S,2″S)-6-lavandulyl-5,7,2′,4′-tetrahydroxylflavanone (2), and (2″S)-5′-lavandulyl-2′-methoxy-2,4,4′,6′-tetrahydroxylchalcone (3), along with seven known compounds 4–10 were isolated from culture broth of Streptomyces sp. G248. Their structures were established by spectroscopic data analysis, including 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR-ESI-MS). The absolute configurations of 1–3 were resolved by comparison of their experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism spectra. Compounds 1–3 exhibited remarkable antimicrobial activity. Whereas, two known compounds 4 and 5 exhibited inhibitory activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of 6.0 µg/mL and 11.1 µg/mL, respectively.
Virtual supermarket shopping has entered a phase of commercial mainstreaming as retailers aim at broadening the customer base, especially in the context of COVID 19 emergence. With the expansion of virtual supermarket shopping (VS-shopping) consumption, there is an increasing need to investigate the variety of consumers' motivations for engaging in such behavior. This study sought to address this gap by using the means-end chain theory method to explore the motivational complexity of VS-shopping. Based on data collected (n = 67) through the soft-laddering approach, six types of motivation are identified, include Quality of life, sense of accomplishment, Family well-being, Financial security, Self-direction, and Health consciousness. The results are expected to complement both theoretical contributions (additional understanding related to the virtual supermarket) and practical contributions (providing valid knowledge for retailers to create a more favorable service and marketing strategies for VS-shopping consumption).
Bone's homeostasis is only achieved when there is a balance between bone formation and bone resorption. A metabolic disorder of bone-resorbing osteoclasts can lead to osteoporosis. Long-term use of anti-osteoporosis drugs can lead to undesirable side effects so traditional herbal can be a potential source of alternative medicine. In the present study, forty one Vietnamese plants (seventy methanol extracts) were screened for osteoclastogenesis inhibitory activities on RAW264.7 mouse macrophage cells. For the first time, 29 extracts from 24 species showed potential as effective inhibitors of osteoclastogenesis.
Familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR) is a rare inherited disorder, characterised by the abnormal development of retinal blood vessels. FEVR is marked by an avascular peripheral retina, which may give rise to a range of sight-threatening complications depending on the severity of the disease. FEVR and retinopathy of prematurity almost share the same ocular manifestations, but most FEVR cases are full-term. To date, several pathogenic genes have been reported to be associated with FEVR whose inheritance pattern may be autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive or X-linked. It has been proposed that defects in the Norrin/Frizzled4 signalling pathway play a role in the pathogenesis of FEVR. Fluorescein Angiography stands out as a standard approach for an accurate diagnosis, especially in early stages and asymptomatic cases. Regarding current treatments, laser coagulation of retinal avascular zones is a key for managing neovascularization and exudation, and surgical intervention is required in severe cases with progressive retinal detachment.
