Land preparation in a traditional shrimp pond is one of the most important parts to do. Soil Redox Potential is an indispensable parameter to see the readiness of soil land or the level of fertility of cultivated land in carrying out activities. It is toxic to shrimp such as sulfide compounds (H2S), nitrites and ammonia. This research is descriptive in nature, by observing 5 traditional aquaculture ponds measuring 3500 m2, with shrimp densities of 100 individuals/m2. The use of Hydrogen Peroxide is pool 1 (0.5 ppm/m2), pool 2 (1 ppm/m2), pool 3 (1.5 ppm/m2), pool 4 (2 ppm/m2) and pool 5 as a control (0 ppm/m2). The basis for determining the use of Hydrogen Peroxide doses is from a minimum reference dose. The best results in pool 3 with a potential reduction value of 331 m/v, wherein one period the value of NH4 ranged from 0-2 ppm with ADG (Average Daily Growth) every week an average of 0.3 grams.
Chitosan is a functional polysaccharide that is capable of inducing various biological activities. This research aims to examine the effect of chitosan on growth and blood profile of tilapia fish. The method used in this research was experimental methods with completely randomized design (RAL) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 times. 120 Tilapia fish in 5-7 cm in range size were reared in aquarium at density of 10 fish/aquarium. Feedwere given at the additional dose of 10 ppt, 50 ppt, and 100 ppt chitosan. The observed variables were growth rate, survival rate, fish blood profile, water quality, feed utilization efficien . The results showed that the best chitosan treatment was at a dose of 100 ppt which produced FCR of 3.48 ± 2.25, AGP: 0.13 ± 0.03, SGR: 0.85 ± 0.84 and EPP: 28.70 ± 16,54.
The river is a lotic ecosystem with biological, ecological and economical functions essential for human life. Kanceng River is one of the rivers in Bangkalan, where the whiteleg shrimp aquaculture activities are conducted intensively. Thus, it may bring nutrients needed for the survival of the mangrove population as well as the possibility of pollution from inorganic material. Nutrients are substances needed by organisms for the shrimp metabolism. Nutrients in the water affect phytoplankton, which has an important role in the aquatic ecosystem. This research aimed to assess whether the nitrate and phosphate levels affect the phytoplankton abundance in Kanceng River, as well as its correlation to the water quality. The results showed that the trophic status of Kanceng Rivers was included in eutrophic waters with phytoplankton abundance of >15.000 cells/ml. The dominant phytoplankton includes Cyanophyceae (Microcystis, Chlorella) and Eustigmatophyceae (Nannochloropsis) classes.
Abstract. Isroni W, Samara SH, Santanumurti MB. 2019. Short Communication: Application of artificial reefs for fisheries enhancement in Probolinggo, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 20: 2273-2278. Overfishing is one of the biggest challenges in the fisheries sector in Probolinggo, Indonesia. The fish apartment (artificial reefs) was one of the solutions to increase the fish resource since it serves as the habitat for fish to live, spawn, and search for food. In this study, the fish apartment was installed in Probolinggo (Karang Katon and Dringu Beach) from 2017 to 2018. This study showed that five fish species (Caesio cuning, Acanthurus achilles, Acanthurus albipectoralis, Sphyraena jello, and Apagon novemfasciatus) were found in Karang Katon while four species (Chaetodon octofasciatus, Chromobotia macracanthus, Nemipterus japonicas, and Lates calcarifer) lived in Dringu Beach. From a total of 333 fishes, A. achilles was the species with the highest composition level of 51.65% (172) in Karang Katon station. In Dringu Beach station, C. octofasciatus had the highest fish species composition level of 46% (183) from a total of 402 fishes. The diversity index and dominance index in Karang Katon station were low at-1.280 and 0.343, respectively. The diversity index and dominance index in Dringu Beach station were also low at -1.115 and 0.3503. A. achilles had the highest density of 34.4 ind/m3 in Karang Katon station while C. octofasciatus had the highest species density of 36.6 ind/m3 in Dringu Beach Station. From this study, it could be concluded that artificial reefs application enhanced the fisheries in Probolinggo, Indonesia, and help its sustainability.
Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a freshwater aquaculture commodity with high demand and economic value. With developing breeding technology, hybrid tilapia also grows in popularity. Pandu tilapia is a strain of Singapore tilapia, while Kunti tilapia is a GIFT (Genetically Improved Farmed Tilapia) strain. To ensure the continuity of good fingerling stock, the individual selection needs to be conducted on Pandu and Kunti Tilapia broodstock candidates. The family selection method was chosen using 125 pairs of broodstock candidates. The male and female ratio is 1: 1 with horizontal breeding where a broodstock was mated with another fish from its own family or strain to ascertain that there is no cross-breeding. Larvae hatched from the spawning were reared in a nursery pond, then graded. The top 50% fish was reared until reaching the adult stage and bred again. The broodstock candidates were then tested for its performance and mass spawned.
Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest potential and production of vannamei shrimp (Litopenaues vannamei) in the world. Therefore, the government continues to improve theactivity of vannamei shrimp farming continuously. This study aimed to determine whether the water quality of the waters in Larangan Glintong Village, Bangkalan-Madura, East Java was suitable for vannamei shrimp farming activities. Water quality was one of the keys for successful vannamei shrimp farming since it could affect the metabolism, reproduction, osmoregulation and stress of the organism. The parameter water quality used in this study was salinity, temperature, and pH. This research was a water quality survey that was carried out for three months (March-May). The result showed that the average water salinity was 30.5 ppt. The average DO and brightness showed 7.02 mg/l and 30.69 cm. The average temperature at there was 29.41oC while the pH valued showed 8.13. The It could be concluded from water quality aspect that pond in Larangan Glintong Village, Bangkalan-Madura could be used for vannamei aquaculture development.
The research aimed to assess the performance of Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin (PMSG) and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) hormone injection combined with vitamin mix to induce the rematuration of Striped catfish Pangasianodon hypophthalmus broodstock. Three PMSG and HCG treatments of 5 and 2,5 IU; 10 and 5 IU;also 20 and 10 IU/kg of broodstock body weight dosage combined with vitamin mix addition to fish feed and one control was used with four replications. The broodstock was reared for four weeks and weekly sampling for GR and SGR as well as hormone injection were performed. For the following two weeks, the broodstock was observed for maturation. Artificial spawning was conducted for broodstock reaching gonadal maturity. Statistic analysis of observed variables showed insignificant differences among the three treatments in rematuration parameters. The rematuration rate resulted in a 100% pregnancy. Broodstock treated with 10 IU PMSG and 5 IU HCG/kg of spawner body weight was able to reach maturity and spawned with the larval survival rate on the fourth day at 84,81%, thus it can be concluded that 10 IU PMSG and 5 IU HCG/kg of body weight as the best dosage.
