<p style="text-align: justify;">This research explores how and what strategy is applied for preparing sustainable English teachers' professional development. This study utilizes lesson study strategy-based clinical supervision and quality assurance. Lesson study is a kind of action research based on a cycle base. This study is also recognized as research and development. Based on conceptual and empirical study, it is found that three grand principles of adding quality lesson study implication. Those are cycle reflection in accelerating the teachers’ competencies in English language teaching, clinical supervision nuance, a quality assurance principle by implementing the plan, do, check, and act strategy. This research successfully finds a model for preparing a prospective and sustainable professional teachers development based on lesson study, blended with the clinical supervision and a quality assurance implementation. The outputs consist of connection among professional English teachers; accelerating realization learning and teaching quality based on reflection implication; forming the open attitude and reflecting discussion and depth analysis; building a self-responsibility and awareness as professional teacher attitude; helping one each other in the professional teacher community for accelerating teaching quality by utilizing clinical supervision. Finally, the outcome is obtaining candidates of English professional teachers, prospectively and sustainably, with high-quality EFL teaching performance in national competitiveness.</p>
The aim of this study is to build up students' writing skills through Innovation Teaching Strategy Model (ITSM). This study was conducted in Letters and Culture Faculty of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG), with the total of 23 students of English Department and 21 Indonesian Department students as the participants. The current study is based on the social culture and local wisdom context utilizing Information Computer Technology (ICT). This model supports the students to have a high level of thinking and performance in writing skills in English and Indonesian language. Furthermore, this study utilized Research and Development (R&D) approach using Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Reflection method. It also employed one group of pre-test and post-test design. In conclusion, this study reaches two achievements; firstly the study successfully designs the effective innovation teaching strategy model after conducting a statistical examination through one group of pre-test and post-test design, and secondly the developed innovative teaching model is able to enhance the students' competencies and writing skill through learning and teaching process as well as the treatment of writing course.
The aims of this article are to explore: Firstly, the description on the existing of students' mastery of English Vocabularies, teaching English vocabulary model, and the students' condition in Competitive Class of Junior High Schools in Gorontalo City through Focus Group Discussion (FGD); Secondly, to observe and to formulate a model of teaching English vocabulary development creatively based on contexts and utilizing ICT Media; Thirdly, to study on the effectiveness of that model formulated development in teaching and learning English vocabularies. This research used FGD and Experimental method by applying One Group Pre-test and Post-test Design. The result of this research consist of firstly the teachers have used English in teaching non-English subjects, by using traditional method such translation method, and memorizing some words without context, the teachers also do reflection, however is not optimum based on psycholinguistic approach; secondly is this research successfully identifies the average of the students' score on English vocabularies: (a) on pretest, X score is 27.62 from the maximum score 49; then to apply that developed model of learning and teaching English vocabularies; (b) On posttest is found the average of students' score gradually up reaching the X score is 35.66 from the maximum score 53. From the two unit tests seemed on the average score on the posttest get improvement 8.15 point. While on the inferential statically analysis by the significance level α = 0.05, the t score acquired -5.348. Because of the statically calculation is obtained 0.000 < 0.05. So it is interpreted that Ho (null) hypothesis is rejected, and accepting Ha (alternative) hypothesis, 76 while T-test analysis proved that the students' scores increased significantly. It means that the teaching and learning model created which being applied is able to increase significantly the students' mastery on English vocabularies in the competitive Class at Junior High Schools in Gorontalo. Based on that research finding, it is suggested that mastering specific English vocabularies need to emphasize the meaningful learning approach, more over relating to the concept of a certain subject, such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Social Science.

This thesis presents the language style used by Jimmy Fallon in The Tonight Show talk show. The objective of this study is to investigate the types of language style used by Jimmy Fallon in his talk show based on Joos’s (1967) theory. This research applied descriptive qualitative method. The data of this research were taken from the talk show video and the video transcript. The main theory which was used in this research was taken from Five O’clock book by Martin Joss (1976) and the book of An Introduction to Sociolinguistics by Janet Holmes (1992). The result of this research showed that the researcher has found 29 conversations that contain types of the language style based on Joos’s (1967) theory. As the result, it finds consultative style with 11 data and casual style with 18 data, which casual style becomes dominantly used.
