Matompang Arajang ceremony is a traditional ceremony that is still passed down through generations and is still maintained until now by bugis bone people. Matompang Arajang is a ritual of cleaning bone royal heirlooms. Where the ceremony has a very important ritual that is Sere Bissu. So far, previous studies have not reached the level of finding the symbolic meaning of the Matompang Arajang ceremony. This article aims to describe the process or stages in the Matompang Arajang ceremony as well as explain the symbolic meaning of Sere Bissu in the Matompang Arajangceremony. The method used is descriptive-qualitative method with ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques in the form of observations, interviews and documentation. Data analysis is done with three stages, namely data restatement, data description and data interpretation. These three stages become the basis for drawing conclusions. Using anthropological theory, the author explains the culture and meaning used in the Sere Bissu ritual. The implementation of matompang arajang ceremony includes malekke toja, mapaota, memmang to rilangi, matompang and massossoro arajang. Sere Bissu ritual in mattompang arajang ceremony has symbolic meaning as a form of sacred communication to God as well as to the spirits of Bugis Bone ancestors who they believe still exist around their lives.
The Mappano' Lolo ritual is a tradition conducted by the Bugis Bone community as a cultural heritage of their ancestors. This ritual, which is conducted as a part of the akikah process, is performed for a newborn child. This tradition is full of symbols, meanings, and cultural values that are unique for the Bugis ethnic. This research was conducted to examine more deeply the process of implementing the Mappano' Lolo tradition, its meanings, and its values. This is a qualitative research with a communication semiotic approach. Semiotics has been widely used for research on cultural traditions because this approach is considered capable of explaining in detail the meaning of cultural values which are full of symbols. Community life will never be separated from hereditary traditions since ancient times. This is because tradition is considered capable of providing positive values in human life who are competing every day with modernization. A good tradition that is in line with religious and cultural values must be preserved and saved so that it is not eroded by era.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk penyajian Tari Pajaga Welado dan untuk mengidentifikasi pesan komunikasi dari Tari Pajaga Welado sebagai warisan budaya pada masyarakat Welado di Kabupaten Bone. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Jenis penelitian ini dipilih untuk mendapatkan data yang objektif dan mendalam, data penelitian disajikan secara deskriptif sehingga temuan hasil penelitian tersaji secara urut, detail dan mendalam. Teknik pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan model analisis data kualitatif yang terdiri dari tiga tahap yaitu, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Tari Pajaga Welado merupakan tari tradisional yang diciptakan sebagai simulasi dari suatu peristiwa atau kejadian yang dialami oleh para pajaga yang diceritakan kembali dalam bentuk lakon atau tarian. Bentuk penyajian terdiri dari beberapa unsur, di antaranya jumlah penari, ragam gerak, pola lantai, musik pengiring, kostum/tata busana, tata rias, properti, waktu dan tempat pertunjukan. Tari Pajaga Welado hanya boleh ditarikan oleh pajaga Welado sendiri dan keturunannya saja, dengan pimpinan yang diberi gelar "majang", yang berarti bunga jantan atau si jantan yang gagah. Tari Pajaga Welado ditarikan secara berkelompok oleh penari laki-laki, minimal 12 hingga 24 orang penari dan berjumlah genap (berpasangan). Ragam geraknya terdiri atas gerakan Mammulang, Matappi, Matembba dan Mallise Peluru hingga gerak Masserang yang diiringi musik dan lagu. Pesan komunikasi Tari Pajaga Welado disampaikan lewat lagu dan gerakan, serta simbol-simbol yang ada dalam tarian bisa mendukung penyampaian pesan agar dapat terarah dan diterima dengan baik oleh komunikan/penerima pesan. Tari Pajaga Welado menyampaikan pesan komunikasi melalui komunikasi verbal dalam bentuk nyanyian dan komunikasi nonverbal dalam bentuk atribut atau pakaian dan gerakan tarian. Tari Pajaga Welado merupakan media komunikasi tradisional yang berisi ungkapan hati nurani masyarakat yang mengandung nilai, etika, dan moral.
