The article offers an analysis of one of the expressive markers of the language of social works of B. Humeniuk “Poems from the war”. Stylistic functions, structural and semantic properties of epithets are outlined. The connection between lyrical and epic epithets and the form of poems – verlibr – is noted. The functional load of epithets in correlation with linguistic-stylistic categories actualization, intimation, subjectivization, publicism, epicness, lyricism is traced. The role of epithets as actualizers of emotional assessments, concrete-sensory associations (color, size, smell of realities, mental state, mood, worldview of a lyrical hero) in readers is established. Emphasis is placed on militarized epithet with destructive semantics of meanings. The individual-author features of actualization of epithets-coloratives (black, red, white, green, blue, yellow) are emphasized. A specific group of epic, more typical of colloquial language, epithets-pronoun adjectives, which enhance the subjectivity of the poetic context. The originality of the epithetics of B. Humeniuk’s verlibr verse is characterized. In particular, the key proper epithet phrases with the direct meaning of adjectives and metaphorical epithets are singled out; two-syllable noun-adjective epithets, epithets as a part of an adjective inversion, epithets as a part of comparison, a paraphrase are distinguished. The correlation of the epithet “Poems from War” with the archetypal cognitive structures – the concepts of War, Warrior, Death, Life, Man, Nature – is traced.
This article investigates the wartime poetry and prose by Borys Humenіuk dedicated to the current war in Eastern Ukraine started in 2014. Being of different genres, his works are marked by common through associative and figurative lines. Emphasis is placed on the ways of verbalization of the philosophy of war as an author’s interpretation of concrete sensory images provided by the artist as a direct participant in hostilities. There are two main associative and figurative lines, i.e., war — man — nature and life — death. The actualization of the military lexicon in the Ukrainian writing style is emphasized. Emphasis is also placed on the stylistic functions of a national and general cultural set of symbols (words) which reveal archetypal semantics in the structure of metaphorical and epithetical images. This article discusses such individual features of Humeniuk’s language creativity as an actualization of stylistics of a numeral, number, and digital code. Humeniuk’s poetic and prose language contains lyric-epic characteristic features. The epithets and metaphors of end-to-end associative image lines have been imprinted by the sublingual stylistic category of subjectivization. Linguosophy of man and war actualizes archetypal associative and figurative components, sacred, folklore, and surrealist (mythogenic) semantics of real phe nomena. The epithets and metaphors of Humeniuk’s Poems from the War and 100 Short Stories about the War created and united the military, socio-political, and intimately lyrical segments of the Ukrainian language picture of the world. These verbal and figurative mechanisms actualized the concrete sensory content, semantic, conversational casual and ironic, filling of certain cross-cutting lines. Humeniuk’s language attracts attention by expressive individual worldviews, the characteristic structural diversity of epithetics, intellectualized metaphors, which interact comprehensively and create deeply psychologized pictures of life during the war. Keywords: language of fiction, through associative-figurative lines, metaphor, epithet, numeral, wordsymbol, archetype.
The presented material proves that toponymic stylistics in the new traumatic socio-political conditions of the war reveals additional integrative tools for a slow and in-depth reading of poetic and prose works and leads to generalizations about the socio-psychological motivation, either the semantics of the toponym itself, or poetic phrases, syntagms, microcontexts in which it is included. The linguistic-philosophical projection of toponyms of artistic works of the period of the most recent Russian-Ukrainian war reveals the stylistic activity of epithets, metaphors, book phraseology, sacred lexicon, oppositional associates, which surround in specific contexts the corresponding toponyms, metonymic transformations of toponyms to denote the population of certain localities. Through and through, they work to one degree or another to make sense of the changed existence in Ukrainian society, in which the socio-psychological factors of the verbalization of philosophical reflections on the meaning of life and the fight against the enemy are actualized.
The article presents a linguo-cultural analysis of modern prose works on migration-resettlement. The basis of the research methodology is the formation of lexical-thematic and lexical-grammatical groups, associative-semantic microfield "language", related to the socio-cultural reflection "one's own - another's". Stylistic functions, value-asciological content of names of persons by national and ethnic affiliation, names of immigrants as foreigners, names of products, dishes, drinks, as well as folklore are noted. The stylistic functions of grammatical stylists - conceptual epithets that specify the national-cultural and territorial identity of the characters - are separated. Emphasis is placed on the specific role of intimating pronouns that reflect the socio-cultural reflection of "one's own - another's". Emphasis is placed on the sociolinguistic aspects of contexts-dialogues about language, forms of proper names, which reflect the confusion of linguistic and cultural codes. It is concluded that the characters, according to the authors of modern migrant literature, are endowed with various civilizational identities, among which the national one is indicative. The linguosophy of migrationism is aimed at the subjectivization of the life of an ethnos (ethnoses), nations, countries, through the multitude of representations of which cognitive, emotional, behavioral, ritual features of linguistic and cultural consciousness objectified in generalized-image constructs appear.
