Cet article traite des difficultés de mobilisation des groupes communautaires en lien avec la revitalisation intégrée et les dimensions sociospatiales de trois centres urbains de villes moyennes situées au Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean. Le texte tente d’expliquer ces difficultés, mais il montre aussi que certaines expériences de revitalisation intégrée sont en émergence, notamment au centre-ville de l’arrondissement de Chicoutimi. Ces expériences nouvelles se développent à la suite de celles qui sont mises en oeuvre dans plusieurs autres villes moyennes du Québec.
Ce travail de recherche a été réalisé à l'Université du Québec à Chicoutimi dans le cadre du programme de maîtrise en Arts plastiques extensionné de l'Université du Québec à Montréal à l'Université du Québec à Chicoutimi SOMMAIRE L'oeuvre "Fragile Argile" est un essai sur la vulnérabilité du matériau "terre" auquel se greffe l'inattaquable souvenir de son passé. Ainsi la première étape de ce cheminement en est-elle une de fouille à la recherche de la mémoire de l'argile. Je découvre ses racines les plus anciennes à travers les abris préhistoriques et un tronc architectural solide dont les ramifications actuelles témoignent. En retraçant l'histoire de l'argile comme matériau, un parallèle entre les formes, les fonctions vitales de l'abri et du four s'est imposé par la suite. Cette exploration de l'esprit bâtisseur de la terre inspire toute l'oeuvre présentée. Dans le troisième chapitre, j'explicite le rapport qu'elle entretient avec l'architectural, solide, en même temps qu'avec le matériau fragile. Les descriptions du "matériau-fragments", de la "technique-mosaïque" et des éléments de Toeuvre-abri", convergent toutes vers l'explicitation du lien symbolique que ces éléments entretiennent avec la vulnérabilité de l'être.
