Batubara R, Surjanto, Sihombing TM, Ginting H. 2016. The safety of tea agarwood (Aquilaria malaccensis) from tree induction throuht test of toxicity subcronic oral 90 days. Biofarmasi 14: 69-76. Subchronic toxicity test is a test to detect the toxic effect that arises after the administration of the test reparation with repeated doses were given orally to the tested animal for 28 or 90 days. Leaves agarwood (Aquilaria malaccensis Lamk) is a tree from a tribe Thymeleaceae, already started popular used the farmer agarwood in Langkat as a drink that in pour. The result of an interview with the farmer agarwood explained that consume tea from the leaves agarwood of this kind of have many benefits include improve canal. To that was done the research security against the tea leaves agarwood induction taken from agriculture agarwood in Langkat, Sumatera North through test toxic subchronic oral. This study aims to determine the symptoms of toxic posed by product tea agarwood induction. This study used laboratory animals that male mice and female mice were divided into 5 groups, namely the 130, 260, 390, 520 mg/kgBW and the control group. The observation of clinical symptoms indicate the presence of toxic symptoms of weakness, changes in fur and agitated at doses of 390 and 520 mg/kgBW in male mice and female mice, the observation macropathology organs alloxan still normal the red-brown, the surface of slippery and consistency chewy. Histopathological results showed hemoglia and dilation of the blood vessels in all groups. Results showed that mice were given tea steeping agarwood induction doses ranging from 130, 260,390 and 520 mg/kgBW there are no mice died, so it can be concluded that the administration of agarwood tea steeping in mice does not cause toxic symptoms and safe for consumption.
BACKGROUND: Agarwood tree (Aquilaria malaccensis Lamk) is a tree from the Thymeleaceae tribe that has a high selling value. The part that is often used is the sapwood of the agarwood tree, used as a base for perfumes and traditional medicines. Agarwood farmers in Langkat have used their leaves as tea drinks, brewing aloes leaves. Before being widely produced by the community, it is necessary to test the safety of agarwood leaf tea products through skin sensitization test. AIM: To find out whether steeping aloes leaves irritate the skin or not. METHODS: The test method using test animals namely albino rabbits as many as 15 tails, consisting of 4 test groups 1 group there were 3 test animals and 1 control group, induced with Freund's Complete Adjuvant (FCA) by intradermal and topical injection with a test position of 1.3%, 2.6%, 3.9% and 5.2% to form an immune response, then a Challenge test. The level and degree of skin reaction were assessed based on the Magnusson and Kligman scales. RESULTS: From the observation for 72 hours there was no change in the skin of the test animals after exposure to the test doses, indicating that the agarwood leaf tea is safe to consume if the tea is on the skin, the skin will not experience irritation. CONCLUSION: Testing on albino rabbits with four different doses did not show an irritating effect on the skin. Observation also shows that there is not a single bit that can affect intradermal to challenge testing so it was safe for consumption.
Gaharu (agarwood) grows naturally in forest and cultivately by people in their farm area. The purposes of this research were to known the chemical compound and antioxidant activity of the gaharu leaf that grows naturally and cultivatelly. As 2 of gaharu leaves were identified, then processed into leaf simplicia, and extracted with 96% ethanol solvent. Gaharu extracted were tested through several testing such as; phytochemical screening, antioxidant activity, and hedonic method. Phytochemical screening showed no the different contain in gaharu leaves that naturally (Wikstroemia tenuiramis) or cultivately (Aquilaria malaccensis) grown, gaharu leaves positive contain flavonoid, glycosides, steroids/triterpenoids and tannins compounds. The results of antioxidant activity test showed that agarwood leaf extract that grows naturally and cultivately has IC50 value in 30.482 dan 41.130 μg/ml which very strong antioxidant activity category. Hedonic tests was on 3-4 scale with the like moderately category, feasible to be developed as an alternative tea.
Leaves aloes (Aquilaria malaccencis Lamk) used the farmer as a drink that in pour (tea). The result of that tea aloes have a very strong antioxidant activity. The problem are the aleo tea from tree induction safety of consume. This study aims to determine the symptoms of toxic posed of product tea aloes induction. The research method refers to the Guidance of Toxicity Non-Clinic Test in Vivo, Badan POM RI, 2011. Results showed that not found toxic symptoms in all treatment of male and female mice, safe for consumption.
Based on various field studies it is known that many members of the community still lack sufficient knowledge and attitudes to carry out swamedications. Self-medication or self-medication is defined as the use of drugs without professional supervision, to treat health problems with symptoms that are self-identified, recurrent illnesses or minor health problems. Community service is aimed at increasing public knowledge and attitudes about self -ication through counseling. Counseling is addressed to administrators, employees, teachers, and students of the Al Razi Sinar Harapan Education Foundation, having its address at Jl. Eka Rasmi, Melinjo I No. 19 Medan. The counseling activities involved 50 participants, starting with the provision of knowledge materials and attitudes about self-medication, demonstration of various markings on pharmaceutical preparations, introduction of pharmacist figures as community guides in various drug-related problems and their proper use, closed with a question and answer session with prizes. To find out the benefits of counseling in increasing knowledge and attitudes about self-medication, before and after counseling, participants were asked to fill out a questionnaire. Based on the evaluation of filling out the questionnaire before and after counseling, it is known that in general there was an increase in the average points (criteria) of knowledge and attitudes from the previous 44.71 and 41.76 (less) to 56.47 and 52.94 (enough). In more detail, the increase in the mean points (criteria) of knowledge and attitudes of the foundation management group and teachers increased from points 57.14 and 40 (less) to 77.14 (good) and 62.86 (sufficient). From the group of high school students increased from 31.11 and 42.22 points (less) to 60.00 and 64.44 (enough). And from the group of junior high school students increased from 44.71 and 41.76 points (less) to 56.47 and 52.94 (enough). From the results of the evaluation it can be concluded that the extension activities are proven to be able to increase the knowledge and attitudes of the community in conducting self-authentication.
