Gymnastic of foot is activity or practice for the patient for the patient with diabetes mellitus to prevent the injury and for the blood circulation on foot (Suryadi, 2004). The objective of foot gymnastic is to improve the blood circulation on the foot of patient with diabetes mellitus for the circulation of nutrition on the organ (Tara, 2003). Sensitivity of foot is sensitivity on the lower extremity. This research applies pretest-posttest design in wich this research was conducted by do the initial observation (ptetest) before the intervention. After the intervention, the observation is conducted from the observation sheet. The resulth of research before the intervention of foot gymnastic indicates that the less sensitivity is 15 respondents (50%), medium sensitivity is 8 respondents (26,7%), good sensitivity for 7 respondent (23,3%) and after the intervention of foot sensitivity, the medium sensitivity to be 18 respondent (78,3%), good sensitivity for 5 respondents (21,7%). The result of statistical test has a significant result to the increasing of sensitivity of foot where p = 0,00 with the average value of increasing is 0,67.
The objective of this research was to determine the influence of lavender aromatherapy on decreasing blood pressure in hypertension patients. The research employed quantitative method with quasi experiment design. The samples were 32 patients either in the treatment group or in the non-treatment group. They were selected by consecutive sampling technique. The result of the research showed that the decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the treatment group was 9.7299 mmHg and 4.3237 mmHg while without treatment was 7.0461 mmHg and 3.51152 mmHg. Paired t-test resulted the probability value of systolic blood pressure was α (0.000) <0.05, the probability of diastolic blood pressure was α (0.000) <0.05. It could be concluded that there was the influence of lavender aromatherapy on the decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Inhalation with lavender aromatherapy method can become one of the considerations in nursing intervention to decrease blood pressure in hypertension patients. It can be an alternative of therapy complement besides medication.
Near forest village residents was one of the main forest share holders. So, they should be involved in various forest conservation efforts. Their involvements not only in activities to keep out people from illegal cutting of the forest trees or to put off forest fire, but also in replanting the forest and in other conservation activities. To improve these people welfare, a study on the villagers' participation in forest conservation was needed. In this conjunction, the objectives of this study were: (1) to determine the villagers' distributions on their selected characteristics, (2) to identify the villagers' participation in the forest conservation, and (3) to determine the extent of relationships amongst the villagers' characteristics and their participations in forest conservation. The population of the study was the residents of nine near forest villages in Parung Panjang sub-district, District of Bogor. The sample was 115 residents taken randomly from the population in those villages. In conjunction with this, this study was designed as a descriptivecorrelation research. The independent variables were the villagers' characteristics and some supporting factors; whereas the dependent variable was the villagers' participations in the forest conservation. Data were collected through interviews with the villagers in February through April 2006. Descriptive statistic procedure was used to analyze the obtained data. The research findings pointed out that: (1) most of respondents involved in the study were in the older age category, of the Sundanese ethnic, low in education, had never received any training in forest conservation, low in forest conservation knowledge, mostly worked as up-land farmers for five hours daily, and had also low income, (2) their participations in planning, implementing, and evaluating forest conservation as well as in using the forest products were low, and (3) the extents of relationship amongst their characteristics included some supporting factors and their participations in forest conservation were either low or negligible.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
