This study aims to describe the quality of the odd semester final exam items for the Introduction to Editing course for the 2020/2021 academic year at the Indonesian Literature Program, Universitas Negeri Semarang. This research is a quantitative research with descriptive method. The research subjects were 60 students. Data collection techniques were carried out by documenting. Quantitative data analysis based on level of difficulty, discriminating power, quality of distractors, validity, and reliability with 100 questions. The results of the analysis show that the quality of the odd semester final exam items in the Introduction to Editing course has a moderate level of difficulty, sufficient discriminating power, and very good distracting qualities. In addition, there are 68 valid items and 0.78 reliability in the high category. The conclusion of the study is that the odd semester final exam items for the Introduction to Editing subject need to be revised to improve the quality of the items.
Covid-19 pandemic affects almost every aspect of life. One of them is on lecturers and students, especially in the Indonesian language course. The students' low scores in speaking skills raise concern. Many students have difficulty expressing themselves in spoken language. New normal results in the modification of many aspects of speaking in its implementation. This study examines the application of methods, media, and assessment of speaking competency, the role of teachers and students in learning the speaking competency, and the achievement of the objectives of the implementation of speaking competency assessment in the new normal era. Mixed methods were used in this study with the data in the form of Google Form, syllabus, lesson plans, interviews, and observations of the learning process. Three lecturers from three Islamic universities in Surakarta were involved in this study. Of the 479 students at Islamic universities in Surakarta, 87.4% of them answered that the learning methods used by their lecturers varied according to the teaching material. Most students (91.4%) answered that their lecturers conduct evaluations regularly and according to competency needs (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). Most of them (98.7%) stated that their lecturers were active and open in explaining and overcoming student difficulties. For the role of students, 77.6% of students were more active in learning the Indonesian language in the classroom. The quantitative achievement of the objective of learning the speaking competency in the new normal is 72.8%. Meanwhile, for qualitative data, it was obtained that 97.5% of students answered they get much new knowledge and understand the Indonesian language better. Most of the students (98.5%) answered that speaking skills are very useful for them.
Sedekah bumi (earth's alms) is one of the ceremonies routinely conducted by the Javanese society. It aims to express gratitude and be used as a means to maintain the balance of nature surrounding the Merapi mountainside. This ceremony is usually conducted in the night of One Suro or known as the labuhan ceremony. The study particularly aimed to describe and analyze the ecological politeness in the ceremony of sedekah bumi in the Merapi Mountainside. The source of data were in terms of events of the ceremony of sedekah bumi and informants consisting of elders of Lencoh Village. The direct observation and in-depth interview were employed to obtain the data related to the ecological politeness in the ceremony of sedekah bumi in the Merapi Mountainside. The next step was to validate the data using the data triangulation. After conducting steps of the study and data analysis using the interactive analysis technique, there were found some facts. The ceremony of sedekah bumi in Lencoh Village is conducted in the night of One Suro or the first day in the Javanese calendar. This ceremony is carried out around the water source as a realization of respecting nature, considering the water source as the source of life. The concept of ecological politeness in the ceremony of sedekah bumi is reflected in sesajen (offering) and ubarampe (ceremonial equipments), such as jadah bakar referring to that the Lencoh community do not commit land fires so that the natural ecosystem keeps preserved. The decoration in each tumpeng (Indonesian rice cone) indicates that the safety is always maintained by not massively deforesting, so the forest sustainability is maintained. Sesajen sejodho (two offerrings) mean a couple of mountains flanking farmers in Mount. Merbabu and Merapi as the resepresentation of woman and man figures who hapily live together. The implication of the ceremony of sedekah bumi in the Merapi Mountainside is a means to remind human to always maintain the natural surrounding sustainability.
