O objetivo deste artigo é destacar a necessidade da leitura correta da série branca do hemograma para o diagnóstico da leucemia, doença que pode levar o paciente ao óbito em pouco tempo e cujas primeiras manifestações ocorrem na cavidade oral. Há maior incidência de leucemias em trabalhadores de determinadas profissões, que estão expostos a agentes físicos e químicos, sendo de fundamental importância o papel do cirurgião-dentista no diagnóstico precoce dessa enfermidade. Destaca ainda a responsabilidade do CD no conhecimento das manifestações orais que ela traz, e apresenta um protocolo de atendimento odontológico ao paciente portador de leucemias, no sentido de minimizar as consequências da terapia das leucemias.
A cirurgia bariátrica é um procedimento alternativo para controle da obesidade. Foi incluído no Sistema Único de Saúde em 1999 e, depois de vinte anos, ainda não supre a demanda de atendimento que cresce com as mudanças de hábito de vida da população. O presente estudo teve como objetivo levantar o número de bariátricas realizadas pelo sistema público brasileiro entre 2010 e 2019, quantificar os procedimentos por região, custo, complicações e taxa de mortalidade; além de promover visão crítica na academia. Através de dados secundários do Sistema de Informações Hospitalares do Sistema Único de Saúde, foi realizada análise quantitativa e descritiva das cirurgias bariátricas dentro das variáveis objetivadas, utilizando software estatístico para testes qui-quadrado de independência e regressão logística. Em dez anos, foram realizadas 79.961 cirurgias e investido R$ 49.186 milhões em bariátricas. A distribuição das cirurgias nas regiões brasileiras não foi igualitária, sendo o sul e sudeste os locais que mais realizaram procedimentos e receberam investimentos. O crescimento das cirurgias não demonstrou diferença estatística para o número de óbitos, mas evidenciou concomitância nas complicações clínicas e cirúrgicas, com aumento de 266,66% e 800%, respectivamente. A técnica cirúrgica mais executada foi a gastroplastia com derivação intestinal (94,15%), variando 4,7% dentro do observado. Apesar do quantitativo de cirurgias praticamente ter triplicado dentro do período avaliado, constata-se insuficiência para suprir a demanda gerada pela epidemia de obesidade, sendo necessário equidade dos investimentos nesse setor. Assim, percebe-se urgência do combate legítimo da problemática no país, com políticas públicas e educação em saúde efetivas.
Resumo Este estudo objetiva analisar prontuários odontológicos utilizados na graduação em odontologia no Brasil, considerando sua adequação à legislação e diretrizes éticas em vigor. Os coordenadores dos 220 cursos cadastrados na página eletrônica do Conselho Federal de Odontologia foram convidados, e 96 deles aceitaram participar da pesquisa. Para coletar e analisar os dados, utilizou-se roteiro estruturado com questões éticas e legais. Do total da amostra, 53,2% dos prontuários apresentaram todos os documentos mínimos necessários, mas nenhum cumpriu todos os requisitos de identificação do paciente, anamnese, termo de consentimento livre e esclarecido e odontograma. Além disso, 17,8% cumpriram todos os itens relativos a planejamento e 61,5% atenderam às exigências de autorização para uso de dados e imagens. Conclui-se que os prontuários não se adequam à legislação atual, devendo ser revistos a fim de melhorar a qualidade da informação e evitar problemas administrativos, morais e jurídicos.
