We live in a world where pollution is increasing at an alarming rate which is directly degrading the quality and natural color of hairs. Moreover, stress which is the other important factor in greying of hair is evident in everyone's life. Thus, in today's times the problem of greying of hair is on the rise. Premature greying of hairs is a trouble which reduces one's self confidence and increases the dependence on harmful chemical dyes. A large number of people are now totally dependent on harmful synthetic products for coloring their hair. Ayurvedic medicines and natural coloring agents thus are promising for the future since they are derived from wholesome natural plant ingredients and moreover can reverse the greying process if used regularly. Skin is the outermost covering of body and the largest organ of the integumentary system. Skin diseases are major health problem with emotional and psychological burden on patients. In Ayurvedic classics, almost all the skin diseases come under the broad heading of Kushtha. Dadru is a type of Kushtha which can be correlated with Tinea infection (fungal infection) in modern science. Three genera of dermatophytes infect skin i.e. Trichophyton spp, Epidermophyton spp and Microsporum spp. Ayurveda describes a multitude of treatment modalities for skin diseases in relation with various types of kushtha. One of them is the topical use of medicaments over the skin for topical absorption which allows faster absorption and better management of skin diseases. Lepa kalpana is a herbal or herbo-mineral drug for topical use. Although lepa is an important therapy in various diseases but it is highly useful specifically in dermatological diseases. Disease is as old as mankind itself. Man has always tried to understand natural phenomena and attempted to give his own explanation to it. According to Ayurveda, disease is a state of the body and mind that gives pain and discomfort to us. The cause of disturbance of the normal balance between the mind and body can be external, Agantuka, or internal, Nija. It means that the internal environment of the body is at constant interaction with the outside world. Disorder occurs when these two are out of balance. Hence to change the internal environment, to bring it at balance with the external world, it is important to understand the process of disease occurrence within the mind and body state. Ayurveda provides extensive insight into the concept and process of disease. According to Ayurveda, the root cause of any disease is always the imbalance of tridoshas, or body humours which further manifests as imbalance in other body components inevitably leading to diseases. Three main causes are misuse of intellect (pragyapradha), misuse of senses (Asatmendriyartha samyoga), seasonal variations (parinama or kala). Key words: Ayurveda, Roga, tridosha, trividha roga ayatana, pragyapradh, asatmendriyartha samyog, parinama.
