의사소통 교과목 학습내용연구대상 의사소통 교육방법 및 평가방법Purpose: This study was done to investigate the current conditions with communication-related education in the nursing undergraduate curriculum, and to develop effective strategies for communication education. Methods: We collected 48 syllabi of communication-related courses from the nursing college or nursing department of a university and analyzed the syllabi using the content analysis method. Results: First, in the knowledge domain, 'Theories of communication', 'Characteristics of human relationship, understanding the importance, and building philosophical foundations' were covered. Second, the skill domain covered 'Application of communication for nursing care' as a main concept. Third, 'Building human relationships for nursing care' was mainly covered in the attitude domain. On the other hand, topics and content were different depending on instructors. Although the courses covered the same educational content, they were categorized under different names and concepts. Conclusion: These findings have implications for how to standardize a communication course in the nursing curriculum.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between moral distress, physical symptoms, and burnout among clinical nurses. Methods: Data were collected by self-report questionnaires targeting 140 nurses from a university hospital in Chungju. The data were analyzed by, Kruskal-Wallis, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Moral distress due to the general characteristics of the participants showed a statistically significant difference at the current working department (${chi}^2=36.01$, p<.001). Hospital nurses' moral distress had a statistically significant correlation with burnout (r=.358, p<.001) and physical symptoms (r=.440, p<.001). Factors influencing hospital nurses' burnout, pro were physical symptoms, moral distress, and marital status, accounting for 36% of the variance. Conclusion: The findings indicate that moral distress and physical symptoms influence burnout among hospital nurses. Therefore, interventions for burnout among hospital nurses should include an empowerment program to reduce physical symptoms and moral distress.

As medical practices and procedures become more specialized and information technology develops in clinical settings, health organizations need medical personnel with special skills, knowledge and competency. But the lack of practical experience in clinical settings may impair competency in basic nursing skills among nursing students. This study used a cross-sectional survey to analyze factors related to nursing competency among nursing students in order to establish effective teaching methods to increase the clinical competency of nursing students. The data were collected from a questionnaire distributed in several universities among 106 nursing students who expressed a willingness to participate in the study during December 2011 in order to measure self-directedness, professional self-concepts, communication ability, learning satisfaction. The data were analyzed using the SPSS window program. There were differences regarding competency in basic nursing skills according to interpersonal relationships, grades, existence of an open lab. The level of learning satisfaction, communication skills and self-directedness were deemed influencing factors regarding competency in basic nursing skills. These 3 elements account for 49.9% of competency with regard to basic nursing skills. According to existing research, blended learning methods which consist of problem based learning, cyber education or case centered education should be considered as effective teaching methods for developing clinical nursing skills.

A resolution adopted by the World Health Assembly in 2014 stated that all nurses should be equipped with palliative care skills in order to integrate palliative care into a day-today healthcare system. This article introduces the palliative nursing competency that was developed for the Korean environment by the Korean Hospice Palliative Nursing Research Network based on its study of overseas cases where this competency and competency-based training were developed. This is the first step towards the development of competencybased palliative nursing education, and active efforts should be made to integrate this competency into the undergraduate nursing curriculum.
