In politischen und fachpraktischen Diskursen wird vielfach angenommen, dass sich eine intensive Zusammenarbeit von Eltern und Fachkräften in Kindertageseinrichtungen (Kitas) positiv auf Entwicklungsund Bildungsoutcomes von Kindern auswirkt, und damit zur Verringerung von Bildungsungleichheit beiträgt. Bislang gibt es in Deutschland allerdings wenige Studien dazu, wie Praxen des Zusammenarbeitens in den Einrichtungen situativ als doing collaboration hergestellt werden und welche Herausforderungen sich diesbezüglich für die Beteiligten mit Blick auf die (Re-)Produktion von Ungleichheit ergeben. Aus einer praxis- und ungleichheitstheoretischen Perspektive wird anhand eines ethnographischen Fallbeispiels (Geburtstag feiern in der Kita) analysiert, wie Zusammenarbeit im Alltag von Kitas prozessiert wird und wie sich in solchen Prozessen (Nicht-)Passungen zwischen elterlichen Handlungspraxen und der organisationalen Kultur der Kita konstituieren.
