Burnout syndrome in professionals of the primary healthcare network in aracaju, Brazil

BACKGROUNDHyperhidrosis or excessive sweat production occurs at 2.9-9% of the population.OBJECTIVETo estimate the prevalence and disorders due to primary hyperhidrosis (HP) in medicine students in the state of Sergipe.METHODSCross-sectional study using individual interviews.RESULTSHyperhidrosis was found in 14.76% of subjects, the most affected regions were palmar, plantar and axillary, causing prejudice in daily activities. Family history occurred in 45% and 22.72% was diagnosed by a physician.CONCLUSIONThe prevalence of hyperhidrosis in medicine students of Sergipe was high, with strong family and a small portion of diagnoses made by medical professionals.

Objetivo: Realizar uma revisão narrativa das repercussões no comportamento e na saúde mental da população vulnerável e de medidas adotadas, no enfrentamento da pandemia do COVID-19. Revisão bibliográfica: Devido imprevisibilidade da pandemia do COVID-19, consequências mentais, são cada vez mais relatadas. Suspeitos, infectados, profissionais de serviços essenciais, os que vivem sozinhos, instituições como casas de repouso, prisões, centros de detenção de imigrantes, idosos, portadores de doença mental, imunodeprimidos e sem-teto, estão mais propícios aos danos de saúde física e mental. A intensificação de sentimentos como medo, raiva, estresse, insegurança e frustração estão associados a um maior risco de desenvolvimento para transtornos psiquiátricos. Para minimizar esses sentimentos, é relevante que meios de comunicação emitam notícias verdadeiras sobre o enfrentamento da pandemia e programas de lazer e cultos religiosos online sejam identificados, por ressaltarem emoções positivas. Considerações finais: As repercussões da pandemia do COVID-19 são comparadas a desastres naturais e guerras, pelo receio em adoecer, ficar desempregado, desamparado, ser estigmatizado caso venha a se infectar e, o medo de morrer. A sensação de incerteza quanto ao futuro econômico e educacional traz também implicações na saúde mental. Estratégias sociais, educacionais, econômicas devem ser implantadas para minimizar os danos causados pela COVID-19.

BACKGROUNDPrimary hyperhidrosis (PH) can lead to mood changes due to the inconveniences it causes.OBJECTIVEThis study aimed to examine the existence of anxiety and depression in patients with severe primary hyperhidrosis who sought treatment at a medical office.METHODSThe questionnaire "Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale" was used for 197 individuals, in addition to the chi square test and Fisher exact test, p <0.05.RESULTSThere was an increased prevalence of anxiety (49.6%) but not of depression (11.2%) among patients with PH, with no link to gender, age or amount of affected areas. Palmar and plantar primary hyperhidrosis were the most frequent but when associated with the presence of anxiety, the most frequent were the axillary (p = 0.02) and craniofacial (p = 0.02) forms. There was an association between patients with depression and anxiety (p = 0.001).CONCLUSIONSthe involvement of Primary hyperhidrosis was responsible for a higher prevalence of anxiety than that described among the general population and patients with other chronic diseases. Depression had a low prevalence rate, while mild and moderate forms were the most common and frequently associated with anxiety. The degree of anxiety was higher in mild and moderate types than in the severe form.

In the HUSE, the association of abdominal trauma with men under the influence of alcohol and illegal drugs was striking, reflecting the context of interpersonal violence in current society. Despite the magnitude of the traumas, the outcome was satisfactory, although deaths, occurred, demonstrating the importance of keeping a trained surgical team in emergency hospitals.

BackgroundNonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is among the most common chronic diseases of the modern world with a wide variety of factors including genetic, environmental and metabolic. The aim of this study was to verify the association between the degrees of hepatic steatosis at the abdominal ultrasound and the values of aminotransferases (aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine transferase (ALT)), gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) and homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) index.MethodsA prospective, descriptive survey study, using a quantitative analytical examination, was conducted from July 2013 to July 2014. In the statistical analysis, values were expressed as median, first and third quartiles. We used the nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test to compare the medians between the degrees of steatosis, adopted a statistical significance of 5% (P ≤ 0.05) and used the statistical program SPSS 22.0.ResultsWe diagnosed 233/800 (29.1%) patients with hepatic steatosis on routine ultrasound, and 65.7% were female. Regarding degrees, 119 had grade 1 (51.0%), 94 grade 2 (40.4%) and 20 grade 3 (8.6%). The median age of the patients with grade 1, 2 or 3 did not vary significantly (P > 0.05). The median body mass index (BMI), although clinically important because of its elevation, did not differ significantly (P > 0.05). ALT levels increased as the degree of hepatic steatosis has advanced as well as the levels of AST, GGT and HOMA-IR. AST values showed a greater association with the severity of fatty liver (P = 0.0001) than the ALT (P = 0.001).ConclusionsALT, AST, GGT and HOMA-IR are associated to the degrees of hepatic steatosis on ultrasound and can help in the selection of patients for the liver histological evaluation.

Propolis, an apitherapic product widely employed in natural medicine, presents various biological properties, such as bactericidal and anti-inflammatory activities, but only few reports have looked at the Brazilian red propolis variety. Collagen films have been employed to improve wound healing and some studies have investigated the effect of natural products incorporated into these films. Thus, the aim of this study was to analyze the effect of collagen-based films containing red propolis on wound healing. Therefore, wounds performed in the back of rats were dressed with collagen-based films (G2), and collagen-based films containing red propolis (G3); undressed worked as control (G1). After 3, 7 and 14 days the animals were euthanized, and the wounds were microscopically evaluated. In 7 days, G3 showed switch of the inflammatory profile from acute into chronic, increased plasma cells differentiation, replacement of Type-III for type-I collagen fibers, and better architectural organization of those fibers. Furthermore, a slight tendency for a better epithelization was verified in G3, but it was not statistically significant. Also in 7 days, the microvessels count was higher in G1 than in G2 (p=0.000) and G3 (p=0.001), but similar between the last groups (p=0,15), whereas the microvessels perimeter was higher in G1 than in G2 (p=0.000) and G3 (p=0.002), but equivalent in G2 and G3 (p=0.175) in 14 days. In conclusion, the incorporation of Brazilian red propolis into collagen-based films was able to improve wound healing, probably by modulating the dynamics of the inflammatory evolution and collagen deposition process.
