Strontium hexaferrite (SrFe12O19–SF6) is a magnetic material of great interest in various research fields due to its high coercive field (Hc) and its high saturation magnetization. In this research, the effect of synthesis parameters on the structure and magnetic response was studied. It was evidenced that the parameters such as pH value and iron precursor type have a strong influence on the crystalline structure of the samples, since the pure phase of strontium hexaferrite was obtained by two different pathways (ferrous and ferric) and only at pH = 5. It was determined that there are differences in the magnetic response of both samples; the ferrous pathway generates the largest values of both saturation magnetization (74.3 emu g−1) and coercive field (5.2 kOe).
Sr0.5Ba0.5Nb2-xFexO6 (SBNF) ceramic powders for x=0.00, x=0.02 and x=0.03 were synthesized using coprecipitation method. The structure of the SBNF single phase with x=0.02 was identified by X-ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement; the morphology and size of the particles were observed by TEM and SEM-EDS microscopy. Electrical characterization showed that Fe doping did not cancel the typical ferroelectric relaxor behavior and magnetic characterization showed a weak ferromagnetic response, which suggest that the samples obtained can be considered as multiferroic.

The crystal structure and the particle size of Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 are modified by the incorporation of BiFeO3, as can be seen from the infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction results. The inclusion of iron and the increase in the molar percentage of bismuth in the BNT matrix generate new bonds with a different force constant. The structural analysis showed that the addition of BFO to the BNT does not induce any structural phase transition, preserving the rhombohedral symmetry of the Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 system. The electrical measurements show that the incorporation of iron increases the conductivity of the system generated by an increase in the concentration of oxygen vacancies; alternatively, the addition of 10% of BiFeO3 generates ferrimagnetic behavior reflected in the magnetic hysteresis curves obtained at room temperature.</p>
