E-mail: ernane.ufmg@gmail.com  1 RESUMO O objetivo do estudo foi determinar a necessidade hídrica do Eucalyptus globulus submetidos a diferentes lâminas de irrigação na região Norte do Estado de Minas Gerais. Os tratamentos consistiram em 6 lâminas de irrigação (50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150% e 175% da Evapotranspiração de referência – ETo), com quatro repetições, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. Os resultados observados indicam que as mudas de E. globulus cultivadas sob lâmina de irrigação correspondente a 75% da ETo (lâmina consumida de 377,66 mm) foi responsável por maior crescimento da parte aérea (63,75 cm), maior eficiência instantânea e de uso da água (0,14 µmol m-2 s-1 e 0,0419 g mm-1, respectivamente). Além disso, as mudas sob esta lâmina de irrigação apresentaram maior índice de qualidade de Dickson (5,64) e alta capacidade de regulação osmótica com maior conteúdo de prolina foliar (124,94 µg g-1). R.EFFECTS OF WATER STRESS ON PRODUCTION OF EUCALYPT SEEDLINGS  2 ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to determine the water requirement of Eucalyptus globulus under different irrigation levels in the North region of Minas Gerais. The treatments consisted of six irrigation levels (50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150% and 175% of the reference evapotranspiration - ETo) with four replications fully randomized. The results indicate that the seedlings of E. globulus grown under irrigation blade corresponding to 75% of ETo (blade consumed 377.66 mm) were responsible for shoot growth of plants (63.75 cm), higher instantaneous efficiency and water use (0.14 μmol m-2 s-1 and 0.0419 g mm-1, respectively). In addition, the seedlings under this irrigation blade presented higher Dickson quality index (5.64) and higher capacity for osmotic regulation with higher leaf proline content (124.94 μg g-1). The macaúba palm (Acrocomia aculeata) is a palm-seed-oil producing tree of great economic value for its high productivity, and the broad range of possible uses for the different parts of the plant. This palm is one of the most promising species for the production of biodiesel, however, its use generates large amounts of waste. The aim of this work is to produce and evaluate the quality of briquettes made from the epicarp of the macaúba palm, in association with the waste of the Pinus sp. For the characterization of the residues, the following analyses were carried out: bulk density, immediate chemical composition, and higher calorific value. Different treatments were adopted in the production of the briquettes, namely: T1 (100% macaúba palm), T2 (75% macaúba palm + 25% pine), T3 (50% macaúba palm + 50% pine), T4 (25% macaúba palm + 75% pine) and T5 (100% pine). The briquettes were produced at a pressure of 1000 PSI, and at a temperature of 120-130 ºC, press and cooling times of 5 minutes, and an average humidity of 9.88% for the macaúba palm and 8.00% for the Pinus. In order to qualify the briquettes’ dimensions, the following were evaluated: apparent density, rupture load, lower calorific value, useful calorific value and energy density. In general, mixing at least 50% macaúba epicarp is recommended to produce briquettes, as this material provides increased strength and energy density to the product.

Teve-se por objetivo avaliar a qualidade da madeira de mogno brasileiro proveniente de plantação comercial para a produção de serrados, aos 16 anos. Como índices de qualidade, avaliou-se as rachaduras de topo de toras (IRTT), os empenamentos e rachaduras de tábuas e o máximo desvio angular (MAD). Ao longo de cinco dias de estocagem das toras houve a evolução do IRTT, porém a abertura das rachaduras foi praticamente constante e inferior a 1 mm. Para tábuas úmidas e secas ao ar, os índices de encurvamento e arqueamento foram menores que o limite máximo de 0,50% preconizado em norma técnica vigente, o que demonstrou a alta estabilidade dimensional da espécie. Uma parcela de 34% das tábuas secas ao ar não apresentou rachaduras de extremidades. O MAD aumentou da medula para a casca e ao longo da altura do fuste, e essa avaliação permitiu classificar a grã da madeira como tendo tendência ao intercruzamento. Houve a diminuição do IRTT com o aumento do MAD e do diâmetro das toras. A madeira jovem de mogno brasileiro possui qualidade satisfatória à produção de serrados.
